Ah, the series looks like genshiken, going by the review, I will most likely give it a try.
ouch, that hits as someone who is considering watching this because of the yuri subtext.
That's how I take it with most fictional stuff, no need to waste energy on taht when there's a real world of broken people to worry about. |

I dropped this after the first episode this is just another silly over done nose bleed shows when are they going to learn that the nose bleed crap is not funny anymore.

I've been reading this manga since it debuted and I have found it to be a painful experience every volume. In part, because my feelings about the manga artist can be summed up "comedic cartoon of me strangling him." Hah.
But this series is partly a sincere romance, partly an investigative report on the exhausting and unreasonable manipulation of both idols and their fans and, gods help us, a comedy. Don't miss the point the creator is making about the manipulative industry. Eripyo works multiple jobs to buy Maina's disks. She buys 5 disks at 3000￥each...and she gets 50 seconds with her favorite idol. That's about $150 for 50 seconds. This series is painful. It is complicated. And it is ongoing. So expect to see Eripyo, Motoi and Kumasa spending a lot of time, effort and money on these girls, just to show their support. Hirao Auri writes series that are "Yuri" without very much Yuri in them, so at least this time, the two women genuinely like one another...but the wall between idol and fan is thick. We can understand why, and still be frustrated as heck when they can't breach it. And that's my best advice for people watching this anime - expect to be frustrated. |

Honestly, this seems like a presumption that isn't backed by real critical analysis. Eripiyo is conventionally attractive, if the male in this situation was also conventionally attractive, I think he'd be seen in much the same way. The show made it clear in the first two episodes that the MC and her male friend aren't the entitled, creepy kind of fan that people rightfully disdain, neither of them seem to expect much from the idols they adore. And let's not pretend like male characters in mainstream, popular anime don't get away with plenty of creepy, perverted, and otherwise problematic behavior. |

I think it being hard to watch is kinda the point Or at least it's my point Cause so far this series is like watching a trainwreck thru half-closed eyes (while it sets up a second trainwreck thru the effort of normalizing it thru humor) That uncomfortable cringe is kinda the enjoyment I get from this. |

I agree with most of this week's review but mostly I'm just ready for this show to get on with the plot if it's going to have one. The "go to event, shake hands, squirm in their awkwardness, rinse, repeat" is wearing real thin now. I'm ready for drama or just a change in scope or something by now.

I'm struggling to see how this was the least bit surprising. Granted, the detail that the results announced at the end of the previous episode were interim and not final was a blink-and-you-miss-it moment even in Japanese and not reflected at all in the subs, but after it's established that this round of voting isn't over yet it seems only natural that Eripiyo's leg would still be broken. I've always thought that "Western cartoons are episodic, whereas anime has continuity" was a hilariously inaccurate stereotype, but maybe that just shows that I've watched nowhere near enough Western cartoons

Interestingly, I've found this "dragged-out misunderstanding" plot to be fascinating rather than annoying.
It's one of those situations that could be resolved in a minute if they sat down and talked. The thing is... they literally can't! They can't talk outside of their "roles" because Eripiyo took the good resolution of being less creepy and stalker-y (and they only met once anyway), whereas at events they also can't talk because of Eripiyo's own actions. It's about the only time I've seen this kind of plot being justified by the circumstances rather than just anxiety and cowardice. I wonder if A-ya might serve as a bridge in the future though. However, it was still kind of annoying to see Maina blow the few chances she got in a very classical way but at least she got to tell her something meaningful at the end, even if it wouldn't clear the misunderstanding. |

I really like what the reviews said this week. This has become one of my favorite anime for the winter season. There are several that I am really loving but so far I am absolutely loving this anime.

The review is one episode late? I already watched episode 7.
I'm watching and liking a lot, but I always end with a bit of a bitter feeling. Eri's relationship with Maina is not "healthy". I want to see her succeed because I want see Eri stopping destroying herself. And all this time Maina is completely oblivious to what Eri does to support her. It really annoyed me seeing Maina concerned and questioning why Eri wasn't appearing more and buying more merchandise when she had seen Eri on clutches. Couldn't she make the connection? |
