Tell that to why Japan's stage play adaptation industry is booming, or why the Kingdom live-action movie was one of the top movies this year with a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

Not to mention Battle Angel made over $400M at the box office. The medium can be adapted just fine when people go in not wanting to make crap tier content for minimal dollars. Plus, this is a series about kids in the woods escaping something crazy. Nothing about that is unadaptable. There's been a crapton of YA movies that are basically the same story line as this that got adapted just fine.
