What the flip? Surprised Very Happy

And just a few nitpicky corrections from a longtime Piers Anthony fanfreak:

The series is spelled Xanth, and I'm pretty sure Split Infinity is part of a different series by Mr. Anthony, so saying a Xanth anime is coming would be inaccurate.

Yup, Split Infinity was I think the first (?) book of the Apprentice Adept series, where the majority of people in the sci-fi world ran around naked. That'll make for an interesting anime...

Looks like from his blog excerpt, that Disney was planning a movie/animation of On a Pale Horse, which was the Incarnations of Immortality series, and there was a movie version of Xanth on the table at some point too.[/i]

Anthony also doesn't say "coming soon", just that his novels have been optioned for an anime adaptation.

Yeah, they're coming soon...just like the EVA live-action movie and the Mutineer's Moon anime are coming soon.

I'll believe it when I see the damn trailers on TV.

I don't see why it couldn't happen. Its premise makes for the perfect anime series. (Assuming they're going that route.)

Can't wait to see this when and if it gets off the ground. I think the mix of magic and technology will make an excellent anime, not to mention the Game. As much as I love the Xanth series, I am happy it's Spilit Infinity instead. Lol, I am not exactly sure how all the puns would work in Japanese (though I have faith they could work it out). Very Happy

Wow, this blew me away. I've always wanted to see Anthony's stuff on screen (one way or another) but dreaded what someone might do to his unique stories.

The Apprentice Adept series, though...it would be interesting to hear backroom conversations on how to reinterpret Anthony's pervasive sexism and admiration *cough* for the female form. Wait, this is exactly what fanservice is all about, oh, ok, no problems then. Rolling Eyes

Concering the nudity in Split Infinity on the world of Proton I suspect they will do a Riverworld on us.

When Riverworld was turned into a movie all the characters became clothed. For those that don't know about the book series every adult human being comes back to life on this world that is just one huge river and they come out of the river nude. In the movie the characters quickly find clothes but you never see any nudity at all. While in the book the people were nude for a while before making clothes for themselves.

...great, now Anthony's stories can be translated to a medium with even more random nudity and fanservice. And he was already the Ken Akamatsu of fantasy novels (which takes some doing, given the genre. He's worked hard for that honor, though).

So Ken Akamatsu tackles complex issues such as rape, racism,
poverty, and war? Rolling Eyes

Anthony clinched that title for all time when he wrote an entire Xanth novel about women's underwear. Not much in the way of complex issues there.

What I recall about Split Infinity wasn't exactly deep and nuanced either, although it was written before his libido completely took over his mind.

You probably should read his Incarnations series, then-especially before Disney ruins it.

I've been wondering about the nudity myself. I only hope they don't go for cute little bikinis for the women and god-knows-what for the men.
