I wish Funi could rerelease FMAB for home video.

That is good news, even if it doesn't do anything about AoA still handling the home video versions. More and more AoA licenses are available on Funimation's service, so it seemed like this was going to happen sometime. If nothing else, it seemed weird to stream on other services, like Netflix, but not on a service run by a company owned by the same parent company that also produced the dub.

Maybe Funimation could convince them to allow streaming of other shows where AoA acquired the license, but hasn't done anything with them, like Sekirei.

I noticed Black Butler also started streaming on Netflix last night and was surprised to see it there. You can already watch FMA pretty much everywhere else. I just hope this will lead to Funimation streaming Baccano and Darker than Black again.

They did do a blu-ray release. Although, I thought the same thing until someone else pointed it out to me, so I can't blame you. Aniplex was low-key about it to the point that I figured it was one of the several that it refused to renew licenses, just so it could apparently sit on them.

Don't hold your breath just because they regain FMBB.

Shouldnt funi redub it, seems odd to have to pay residuals to a dude who sued your company and your people.

Funimation only has streaming rights so they can't, not too mention they still have a shit ton of titles that Vic was in anyway and they never redubbed those

Well you're in luck then because Funimation only does non-Union dubs, which means none of their actors get residuals. Hense why a lot of them have second jobs.

There's no residuals. Funimation isn't union, especially for in-house dubs. They paid the actors once to record it and that's it. He hasn't earned a cent for playing Elric since Sacred Star of Milos. (Unless there was a dubbed OVA or something in the interim). So there's no point rerecording the dub, it doesn't matter how much it's shown or what services it's on, he's not getting anything out of it.

I don't think residuals are a thing in general for anime dubs, possibly due to how dub track rights actually work. Watching a dub or buying it on blu-ray or whatever means that Funimation might hire the specific actors again, but it doesn't actually affect how much the actors earn.

Did they? I'm not seeing any bluray/dvd releases for Baccano on Rightstuf. Are they just out of print?

The Baccano! Blu-ray release came out on May 17, 2011 as a limited edition set. There was a repackage release the following year, but there hasn't been a physical release since.

Releasing a bluray and then it going out of print after less than two years sounds like a pretty shitty thing to do. Only Limited Editions should ever go out of print. The series should at least be streaming somewhere to offer us a legal option to watch the show, or a cheaper standard bluray release... Otherwise anyone who wants to watch it is forced to pirate.

Doubt it'll happen, but what are the odds of Ed being redubbed, because of his English VA's antics?

Pretty much zero. It's a big expense and time-sink that'll gain minimal returns.
