i just hope it's more accessible than "That Place Promised...". that movie was very boring and confusing.

hopefully it will be more like Voices. Places was too long and drawn out. In any case the animation looks beautiful...

Wow - that trailer is stunning. It looks like he'll be staying with his familiar themes of relationships and distance. The piano track playing in the background was great too - highly reminiscent of Place Promised and Voices. I rated both of those as masterpieces, so I'm really looking forward to seeing this.

Although there's no source indicating who the composer is, the piano score was almost certain to be created by Tenmon, Shinkai's long time collaborator. |

I could gaze at Shinkai's animated clouds all day, he truly is a rare genius. Regardless of the story (which I will admit can have some weak points) his works are so utterly beautiful that almost every shot is is good enough to frame and hang.
I kid you not when I say that tiny, tiny trailler mooved me with its beauty and that was only 45 seconds! |

Yes Yes! I can't wait to see his latest work. Voices and Placed Promised are both in my top ten and I'm ready to bump something off to make way for this latest work. The wait's gonna be killer!

I figured it was Tenmon's work again as well. I'm a big fan of the Place Promised OST as we get a lot more than just the 3 or so renditions of the same theme as with the Voices OST - although that one is still great. I think his music fits perfectly with the atmosphere and themes we've seen present so far in Shinkai's works, and am already looking forward to getting this new OST.
I also found a translation on the web for the text inserts:
Wow... this is going to be a goodie! @TK & Nagi: If that's not ok to post, please edit or delete my post. Sry ahead of time. |

Well, it is going to be comprised of short films, so we can hope for the best. Does anyone know if this new project was written by Shinkai as well? If it is written by Shinkai, I'm going to be looking for improvement; I think that's really the only area that he needs to work on. Oh by the way, slickwataris, props on the Mono avatar. |

Info courtesy of an fansub group:
I was hoping for some more sci-fi, but ultimately this is what Shinkai does best so I am still very excited. |

I'd like to know if anyone else has noticed the spoiler[donut-shaped afocal spots, a signature of reflex zoom lens (similar to Cassegrain telescopes)]. I'm sure this was intentional, for a computer-generated animation needs no spoiler[zoom lens] to take a shot. However, creating spoiler["donuts" instead of normal blur of standard zoom lens / naked eyes] broughts up the feeling that we audiences are recording lives of those characters spoiler["through the lens of a (video) camera"] as observers/historians.
Now that's what I called an otaku eyesight. |
