I can’t be bothered to use HIDIVE atm, so I’ve been looking forward these reviews. Thanks for taking this hit for us, James.

On behalf of all of the people who voted for this show for weekly coverage, we're sorry, but only a little bit.

So something I'm wondering: how exactly is W'z supposed to be pronounced? In my head I've been thinking of it as like the "wiz" in wizard, but is that correct? IS there a correct way?

They say it like "wise" in the show, so probably that?

I'm still highly suspicious that W'z doesn't ACTUALLY have anything to do with Hand Shakers, and that this is all an elaborate troll by James banking on the fact that nobody in their right mind will actually be watching this show along with him, so he's free to spin this elaborate alternate reality story about a world where Hand Shakers was deemed worthy of another season.
At this point, this seems the most probable explanation, and I'm certainly not brave enough to actually watch the show and find out for myself.

If only. Amazingly it is indeed true that it is a Hand Shakers sequel, and the animators and other staff involved haven't run away to a project where they wouldn't have to awkwardly try and explain that the overall lack of quality of the final product doesn't speak to their own skill or lack there of (and it doesn't, at least with that animation of the MC using the turntables).
At first I was a bit underwhelmed by W'z compared to it forbear, but after the third episode, that's no longer the case, at least not to the same extent. I almost had to rewind when they referred to Masaru and Riri as newlyweds (despite being siblings). Also, did they suggest that Masaru was adopted or did I misinterpret that?

Theron also reviewed the first episode, so he'd have to be in on it, as well as most of the people who've edited the Wikipedia page. Even so, a troll conspiracy would still seem like a more likely explanation... except it does kinda resemble Hand Shakers visually, and if GoHands hadn't made the completely inexplicable decision to sequelize one of the least popular anime ever made, they probably would have gone out of their way to make their next show look completely different (outside of their, uh, unique color palette) so people wouldn't see any connection between them. But they didn't. So it appears we really are in the weirdest timeline, where Hand Shakers gets a sequel.
In all seriousness, it's a mystery to me how this happened. Who in the world would fund this? Was Hand Shakers under a preemptive multi-season contract? Is there a mysterious billionaire, known only to industry insiders, who wires large sums of money to whoever makes the worst anime in a given year? We may never know.

Yeah, they snuck that in there to try and make the relationship less creepy, I guess?

Presumably. Though if the newlyweds thing was not euphemistic, the adopted part would be legally necessary, as of course you cannot marry your blood related sibling in Japan (or most anywhere else).

Thank you, James, for giving me such a good laugh tonight. I do not relish your having to watch this reheated Dumpster fire, but boy am I excited to read your witty takedown of it week after week.
Of all the amazing series out there, it's Handshakers that gets a sequel. Because sure, I get it. When you have the world's best creme brulee, the only logical thing you can do next is chow down on a White Castle slider that's been left out in the rain!

And now you begin to glimpse the scope of this conspiracy. *steeples fingers enigmatically*
In all seriousness, while I'm gobsmacked by the existence of this show, experiencing it vicariously through James' weekly review is the best way I can imagine to follow it. If it had to exist (and apparently it did), this is the proper path for me to come to grips with that fact. I only hope that it gets either better (I mean it's POSSIBLE) or more entertainingly terrible, just so that James has more to say in his upcoming reviews than "it's boring" and "MY EYES!!! MY POOR BLEEDING EYES!!!!"
Sorry that last part might have been me. Godspeed James. Godspeed.

It's probably telling that despite it being a sequel, neither Funimation nor CR picked it up. Also, if they kept the fact that it's a Hand Shakers sequel under wraps, I have to wonder why it was even given the green light.

Personally I don't understand how studio GoHand even work, none of there shows are popular (even the one that aren't total trainwreck) yet season after season they keep getting stuff green light. The only things I can think of is that they can crank out show for so cheap that even the very modest sales they get are enough to recoup the cost.

My best guess as to why this (and Handshakers) exists? Probably sponsored by some eccentric rich dude/chick. Maybe their teenage kid wanted to pen an anime and they were like "Sure sweetie, we can buy you that!" and tosses their kid's terrible script along with a giant bag of money at the studio. Like I can't think of any other reason these shows exist. Handshaker's plot is like something I would've wrote when I was thirteen even.

That goes for me too And BTW I voted this because there is a non-zero probability that the thing could be interesting enough to pick up since I actually liked the original, but only the reviews will let me know. "Hell freezing over" has a non-zero probability too...
I'll vote W'z = "double-youz" like boyz
