One of the best premiere for the season imo.

Honestly, I think they managed to capture the general atmospheric feeling of the show perfectly. The first episode was mesmerizing and the second one is building more to its premise. Can't wait to see more since the first arc of the manga is my favorite.

So far this has been a pretty great adaptation, but there is one part that could potentially be an issue (for me at least); not only has the anime cut out all internal monologues, but it also keeps the story spoiler[in the kids' perspective.] I only bring this up because there was a certain part in chapter 3 of the manga that completely hooked me.

All in all though, these first two episodes have reminded me why I love this series and I can't wait until the next episode.

These are really interesting, James! Keep them up. I'm not reading the manga but I always like seeing the directing's more inspired efforts being pointed out like this.

I don't think that really needs to be spoil tagged, but it's also not entirely true. Think back to the last scene of episode 1.

I do enjoy this very much, but it may have been more effective with the tone and horror if I was 10 not 28. Overly dramatic music in the second ep was super over the top. The hook is just so goooood! Anime hyper

I hope they include that scene in the next episode.

This already won anime of the season but I really hope they dont adapt the entire Escape arc in 12 episodes, that would be horribly devastating.

They covered four chapters in Episode 2 alone, so my guess is that they'll be fitting in the whole arc before the season is done.

I never read the manga so I only knew the series from the fandom hype. I avoided spoilers but I still had a general idea of what to expect of the tone of the show from how everyone hyped it up. The first episode impressed me a lot and it still managed to shock me. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest and how it all folds out. Promised Neverland would be a good fit for Toonami whenever it gets dubbed.

4 chapters per episode seems perfectly reasonable; any less and it would drag. I also think the choice to omit an internal monologue was smart. The director is smart enough show and and not tell the audience everything.

Episode 2 was so cliche and boring that it almost killed my initial intrest of the show.

I cannot fathom how something so by the numbers has the hype this does.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't show up on Toonami within the next year.

This is a fantastic adaptation so far! I've read some of the manga, and as great as it is, this is the type of story that can be enhanced by animated elements, music especially. The manga's still ongoing, so I hope they're considering more seasons.

I’m not sure how exactly this is apparently “so by the numbers” but alright sure whatever floats your boat.

Very good adaptation of a great source material. The first arc of TPN might be one of the best first-arcs I've ever seen in manga, let alone for this kind of series.

It's a shame that the series also has one of the sharpest quality drops I've ever seen after said first arc ends, now being maybe among the worst in JUMP imo.
But thankfully that isn't something the anime has to worry about in the first season.
