When you mention where Gridman is streaming at the bottom shouldnt you also link to FUNimation since they are same day simuldubbing it?
But yea this show started super strong. Definitely a highlight of the season.

The dub's really kept me interested in a genre I'm not really crazy about. Even more so from a studio I generally don't like the work for. But tbh, this series looks like their most "normal" work so that definitely helps.

I liked episode 2 a lot more than the first. Both are really well directed, but the fight in the first felt really awkward to me, as did the monster design. It's on purpose, sure, but it still looked like crap to me. The second episode's fight is better executed and adding Akane as a very charismatic (but completely bonkers) villain did a lot too, not to mention the cute sword boy.

Apparently, some of the human character's designs are based on some Transformers (not kidding). Also, whoever at Funimation decided to have Alexis' dub actor do a Tim Curry-like accent, props that was a good idea.

The Power Rangers type show SSSS used Tim Curry to dub the voice of the villain. I remember watching it in syndication. So odd.

It's cool to see tokusatsu translated to anime from time to time. I wouldn't want it to happen too often because I feel it loses some of its magic in translation (particularly in directing and some of the better actors). The original Gridman was essentially a slice of life show interspersed with a superhero show and it's struck me as something that could make the jump to anime quite easily ever since I first saw it.
(btw, the entire original series is available streaming with English subs at tokuHD)

I'm really liking this show so far, brings back memories of watching the american SSSS when I was a kid. The dub is also very strong. It's nice to hear Greg Ayers in something after what feels like forever and Jill Harris is quickly becoming one of my favorites among Funi's newer talents.
Hopefully this show will move along smoothly and wash the taste of Franxx out of everyone's mouth.

I need Alexis to call someone “meat thing” in the dub.

So far so good, please let this be a great Tigger series. Nothing they've done since KLK has really grabbed me, please let this series be the one to change that around.

Really enjoying this one so far, looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun. Fingers crossed Trigger don't pull their usual crazy switcheroo at some point coz this one really don't need it.

not happening. the collapse and its ending will be the most controversial since evangelion ,& akame ga kill which got a second chance thanks to their FAR BETTER AND FAR SUPERIOR manga versions!!
unfortunately franxx is in the same boat as gundam IBO!!!
they probably wont get a manga version which are way different from its anime version and have a far different & FAR BETTER ENDING! and the ending for those two will prevent them from getting the Blood C: the last dark treatment and get a second chance at redemption via a movie sequel!!!

I would have thought this would be a show that I really liked the onster fights, and everything else would be... just there.
Yet I'm really enjoying the story, the school setting, at least in the first episode, seems a lot more like real school than most of what you see in Anine, like how packed the classroom is with people doing stuff, and there is something interesting about the way they talk, a little less Anime, and more like how they would in a live action show.
The fights on the other hand come off as rather dull, and the CG kaiju and shots of Gridman are insulting.
@jr240483 There is a Manga adaptation of IBO, 2 in fact, though i question how good they are, as Manga adaptation are never as good as the original Anime.

Akane’s pettiness and Gridman’s Assist weapons were mainstays of the original Gridman series.
Like Akane, original series’ villian Todo Takeshi was motivated by trivial anger to create cyber-kaiju that laid waste to cyberspace. However, SSSS’s reveal that Akane’s creations are killing actual people in the real world, and her revelling in it, adds a level of psychopathy to her pettiness.
Similarly, the original's Assist weapons were PC programs created by the MC’s friends to help Gridman in battles. The weapons as sentient beings in human form outside of battle is new to SSSS; how this ties in to the overall mystery of Gridman and Alexis remains to be seen.
