Shankar told IGN, "I've acquired [the Devil May Cry] rights myself so the jabronis in Hollywood can't f*** this one up too."

Why do so many IGN interviews end up sounding like someone cutting a wrestling promo?

In Adi Shankar's case, he's a bit of an oddball and is kind of a douche, apparently.

Either way, a DMC x Castlevania crossover does sound pretty cool!

He does seem genuinely like a douche. Also Castlevania had some fun parts, action generally looked good and was enjoyable, but the series had some major problems with the writing, especially season 2. So I'm hoping that this upcoming DMC series has better writing.

I guess saying Netflixvania sounded too much like DmC's edgy dialog was a bit too on the nose in this case.

I really want Warren Ellis back as he's perfect for this, but at the same time I worry about him also having to juggle writing season 3 of Castlevania, and his comics.

Well to be fair, Dante appears in the Marvel vs. Capcom games, which also feature Ryu, a character that appears in Super Smash Bros series, in which Simon Belmont is also featured. And that’s the closest of their connections - but it’s still a connection!

Good. We need to do whatever we can to keep Anime properties out of the hands of hollywood. The travesty of Major Kusanagi going from perhaps the most gifted battlefield tactician in modern fiction to a clueless white girl can not be repeated.

In this case he's right though. I mean, did anyone else see the first pics of the new Monster Hunter movie? Capcom properties have a bad history in the Hollywood studio system, lmao.

It's kind of hard for the adaptation of something to have good writing when the source material wasn't known for quality writing itself.

Hence why we get Dante's "I should've been the one to fill your soul with light" in the first game. Or Arkham masquerading as Jester in the 3rd game which even if he had his reasons was still a dumb swerve.

To be fair this stuff hasn't always been handled all that better in animated form either in America which makes things like the Super Mario or Jalwel White Sonic cartoons or Japan with it's adaptations of Viewtiful Joe and Valkyria Chronicles.

Also am I the only one that noticed the misspelling of Castlevania in the blurb for the story?

Last i checked he already signed on to this project as well.
I could be wrong however, but given he's already worked on the previous installment of DMC produced by madhouse it wouldn't at all surprise me to see him working with Shankar again.

Poor DMC franchise just can't catch a break. Although Capcom are the main responsible for being so much willing to westernize it.
