Wow! I was so excited when I heard that Viz was releasing this OVA. It gives you SO much more insight into what was going through poor Chise's mind when she was carrying out her duty.

This is a great supplement to the series. My only very minor complaint was how abrupt the ending is. It doesn't detract from the show at all and this Saikano fan couldn't be more satisfied.

All Saikano fans should see this, but as Key said at the end of the review, you must watch the series first(which would not be a bad thing to do).

Oh, and to Bamboo: Thanks again for recommending this show Very Happy

I'll be buying this DVD no matter what, but it does annoy me to hear about the subtitle grammar/formatting errors. EDIT: *tones down rage*

I should clarify that we're not talking about a big number of errors here; between both episodes there's three, maybe four, IIRC, and it's errors like using "it's" instead of "its" and inappropriate use of italics. That might be tolerable in fansubs (and seems to be about the norm for them, in my experience) but it's still too many for professional work.

I loved the show more then i thought i would, and couldnt wait for the OVA to come out, and i agree generaly with there viewer, not that it matters much if i did not Razz

The main problem i had with the main show is that they never truly came out and said why Chise became a weapon (though they did hint alot with her stating she wants to be "stronger" all the time) but besides that i thought the show was near perfection

My main reason for wanting the OVA was to see why she became a weapon and to get the same experence that i did in the show

My first hope was met with one line, which was pretty perdictable about why she had to be the one compared to Mizuki and disapointing, and the only times i felt involved in the story was during the few "mind reading" sections of the story, everything else felt to cramped and mushed togeather for me to care about, i didn't feel like i should care why Mizuki stayed in the war or her unit or even about her as she does the general "I hate you for replacing me" to "ill protect you as a mother figure" that was pretty bland compared to when that one guy enlisted to protect his family and "girlfriend" in the show, and Tetsu's cameo and "love affair" (wouldnt that make it his third?) seamed pretty forced, even when it showed some promised and there emotional attempts to me felt like they where just restating areas of the show (like when Tetsu runs into the room), the olny parts that got me where ones that felt like deleted scenes from the show, mainly the one where Chise trips infront of the "American" soliders who starts firing

Also the editing i thought was bad, i found it hard to match up the time line of the OVA and the show, it was only obvouse stuff like her running away on the bike that allowed, at lest to me, to catch up, i dont know but it felt like they tryed to make a hour long OVA of deleted scenes strung togeather, overall i could have lived just fine without ever seeing, but even if someone told me all i stated, i still would of bought to see it for my self

Oh, wow! I didn't even know there was more Saikano. I'm both looking forward to getting and watching this, but I'm also dreading it somewhat Confused Saikano is one of the most heartbreaking and deeply touching shows I've seen. I'm not sure I'm ready to see these two OAVs. The original series tugged on the heartstrings so well that I might hold off until I feel in the mood to be bitter-sweetly sad Wink
