This is just more proof that after Episode IX Star Wars needs a long, LONG break.

Maybe a permanent one. Cancel this after one season, no second sequel trilogy, let it end.

Not really liking the animation style they've gone with, but I've enjoyed the work of this crew before, so hopefully it won't be too much of a turn off when it starts airing

Are you really sure about that?

Solo bombed. Toys aren’t selling. Battlefront II has been a nightmare they couldn’t sell without having it heavily discounted. This show has 100K dislikes for its trailer. We’re getting one more movie after the cinematic disaster that was TLJ, it hopefully bombs, Reistsnce is one and done, and that’s the end of Star Wars for a very long time.

The Force Awakens is third highest grossing movie of all time; The Last Jedi the eleventh; and Rogue One the twenty-seventh. If you think Disney is going to pull the plug, you're delusional.

That's being downright hateful and delusional of the state of Star Wars you know.

All with the usual bullshit of TLJ's reception and the whole debacle of toys which is not supposed to matter anyway.

You either be silent about it and let others enjoy it...or you watch it without giving a fudge for the art style and judge it on its own terms.

No, I won’t. Solo bombed and this looks like crap. Don’t get personal.

Those dislikes on the initial trailer were kneejerk reactions and you know it. The comments are littered with long time Star Wars fans not liking the "anime aesthetic" and the fact that it's being animated via cel shading techniques. Many of the reactions are from those taking this as a personal affront to "their" franchise and "their childhood". Screw that, there's a generation of kids loving the current direction and being able to identify themselves with a lot of these new characters.

The show looks interesting to me, the frame rate is a tad bit choppy, but I like the character designs and the colors.

People say this until it happens to their childhood. The announced Buffy reboot suddenly got attacked by the same people who criticized the haters of stuff like this, Thundercats, and She-Ra of being gatekeepers.

Me personally, I lost interest the moment Disney got it. It's pretty clear they're only interested in the kids market. No sense caring about a franchise that doesn't care about the fans. And to be totally honest, in the age of endless reboots, it's hard to care about most western franchises these days. They all seem so assembly line produced and interchangeable now.

Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is one of my favorite anime dub voice artists so I'm very excited that she's going to be in a Star Wars show. I like the character designs and I think they look very expressive and the ship scenes look really cool and I'll be checking this show out.

Solo bombed because they replaced the directors and reshot most of the movie, which essentially doubled the budget. If that didn't happen the movie would have made a decent profit. So it is a bad example to use for saying people are getting tired of Star Wars.

Except the problem with your thesis is that people WERE ticked off after the horrible storyline and massively poor treatment of the OT characters in the previous numbered Star Wars entries.

They lost at least $200 million in sales with SOLO and yes, toy sales COUNT because they can make up a difference in ticket sales and tend to point towards the long-term viability of a franchise or at least signal what part of the franchise people care for.
The backlog of Star Wars toys that were still on shelves dating back to The Force Awakens was a huge hint there was a problem with the DisneyWars. Obviously, you haven't seen the videos of where people went into store after store (Toys 'R Us bankruptcy clearance, Wal Mart, Target, grocery stores, etc.) and things STILL weren't selling even when they were discounted well over 50%!
The toys themselves have huge issues with being overpriced, made with cheaper plastic, and being based off of new characters that just have not captured people's hearts. At this point, Jar Jar Binks is probably more popular than any of the new characters introduced in the Sequel Trilogy!

In another franchise, they CAN'T sell Star Trek: Discovery and most companies that were in negotiations to produce licensed product based on that series PULLED OUT and didn't release anything even after exhibiting prototypes of toys and props! Classic Star Trek continues to sell.

After what happened in Episode 8, I doubt ANYONE will be able to write a script for Episode 9 that will satisfy the 50%+ of the audience that absolutely hated Episode 8. The screenwriter/director of Episode 8 LEFT NO ROOM for story development that is going to satisfy anybody reasonably who's over 7 years old.

The enthusiasm level for Star Wars is DOWN... especially if Disney continues on the path they are now because they apparently don't get it yet.

Do people never get tired of talking about The Last Jedi for some reason?
