Usually not, but one of the sociological definitions of "popular" has to do with socio-cultural ubiquity, so its use here to describe an aspect of popular culture is perfectly correct (if a little confusing to people who aren't overly familiar with this particular application of the term). I think Sakurai is also still in Oshiri Tantei (Butt Detective) this summer. This article just says it started in May, but not how many episodes. A full cour would run through July at least. Odd how there are several articles about this series, but no Encyclopedia page.
Anyway, I'm delighted to be able to hear him in so many series this summer. Usually about half of what he's in I have no interest in otherwise, but I think only a couple of these aren't things I'd watch anyway. |
