Cool. I wonder if it'll be a pure comedy or an action/drama episode. I'm hoping for comedy, though either one would be OK. I'm really looking forward to this.

Some mentioned on the earlier thread this was announced in, that if it is based off of the sidestory it is named after, it will be like a day in the life of Tessa or something. Guessing it will be comedy then.

They're really driving this one into the ground, arent they?
Well.. I can think of a plethora of other titles taht have recieved multiple series, movies, OVA's etc, so it's not really a complaint. |

How so? I can't really see how simply adapting some of the early novels in the series, with some comedic interludes similarly pulled from some of the manga and short stories between main series, could be considered "running the franchise into the ground." I'd...probably call it adapting a source material that just so happens to be somewhat lengthy and prolific in scope. It'd only be "running it into the ground" once they ran out of source material and kept trying to force the franchise onward with cheap, pandering add-on series with generally low-quality storytelling (Dragon Ball GT, Hellsing TV series, Rurouni Kenshin TV series). |

Considering this OAV is going to be a Tessa title (no Sousuke or Chidori from early reports), I'm looking forward to it. It will be nice to get her character some additional fleshing out, especially to set up the next series.
And yeah, I don't believe they are driving this into the ground either. I'm hoping they'll do all of the source novels into anime (unlike the Slayers franchise which only used the first eight novels for the first two anime series, then made up entirely the third series before spinning it off into Lost Universe and launching all of the Lina/Naga prequel stuff). |

Sounds like it'll be pretty cool.
Question is, will this be brought over whenever ADV brings TSR stateside? |

It would have to be licensed seperately since it is a seperate title, but assuming ADV licenses TSR, one would guess they'd grab the OAV as well. |

Didn't happen with Elfen Lied though ;P |

At this point, I would say that the odds of ADV acquiring FMP! TSR is 50%. They are getting notoriously cheap these days.

Well, times are hard in the business, thanks to all those evil fansubbers, torrent tracker operators, and bootleggers (or maybe just a little thing called the Media Play bankruptcy), but ADV seems to value the FMP franchise, and TSR is sure to be a big seller, so I'm sure they'll pick it up someday. As for the OVA, I'm betting against ADV picking it up--somebody already mentioned the omission of the Elfen Lied OVA, which is actually somewhat important to the plot of Elfen Lied. So, if they're going to leave that out, they probably won't get this one, so I recommend DLing the fansub when it comes out and keeping it. (I know it sounds low, but if the R1 licensees aren't going to make it available for those who want to buy it, that's pretty much the only choice aside from importing the R2.) Also, ADV didn't get the Kino's Journey "Episode 0" or the movie, so that factors into these odds as well. |

Given that it's an OVA for the Tessa fanboys, I won't be too disappointed if ADV doesn't pick it up along with TSR. Assuming that ADV will license TSR anyway.

I'd have to think TSR is going to get licensed -- mildly interested... Though I prefer Fumoffu. PAPER FAN!
I can tell you, though, I did see one TSR bootleg DVD running around at WonderCon last weekend. |

As it's been stated before, ADV is hardly the only anime company that hasn't been doing well in the last year or so, and they're definitely not in the worst shape. And really, it's not about whether they've licensed something or not as when they announce it. I would guess that you'll see more license announcements when the summer convention scene rolls around.

All things considered there's very little reason they won't at least make a good attempt to get their hands on the series and OVA, they know it's good business.
