As it's Shueisha, the manga publisher rather than anime producers, it's likely a bitch to pay royalties from the record companies for these songs.

I wish they chose Kimagure Orange Road's first opening theme, "Night of Summer Side" instead, which is famous to us veteran otaku, or if they wanted to use Nakahara Meiko, the third ending, "Dance in the Memories" was a lot more... well, memorable.
