This actually premieres on my Birthday of all crazy things that to the side looks like this could be the first Masaaki Yuasa project I actually enjoy.

Masaaki Yuasa is a director and animator. But above all, an animator par excellence. It is very rare these days for a director to also be an animator and at the same time the president and founder of the studio. There are few cases where this happens, the only ones I can remember are those of Science Saru and Studio Trigger. The only studios I know of whose president is also a regular animator: Hiroyuki Imaishi [Trigger] and Masaaki Yuasa [Science Saru]. If anyone knows of another, please tell me.

I hope Netflix and other streaming companies will start investing in anime, because then the chances of seeing them again are higher than waiting for sales of blu-rays and DVDs in Japan.

Devilman has long deserved to have a big, fully baked anime sent out there on an international scale. To not only get it, but get it with Masaaki Yuasa of all people, is stunningly awesome. Needless to say, I have high expectations for this one!

Oh man, I CANNOT wait. College starts back next week, I can expect about 30 hours worth of classes, so this will be nice to marathon next weekend.

Looks great, I just wish they could of gotten Pablo, or a similar studio, to do the backgrounds.

Really happy about the January release date but I could have sworn this was going to debut in the Spring. Is it just going to be the first several episodes?

I've been waiting years for a proper Devilman TV series(sorry 1972 version) and I have a lot of faith in Masaaki Yuasa.

A while ago it was announced that it was moved to January. Its 10 episodes which is the total. I assume it will be the full story.

It's a shame that this will probably be a sleeper hit during the winter season. It seems like Devilman and Go Nagai stuff is always niche in the US and does have a bad rep with modern fans for being edgy. People seem to look at Devilman for all of the wrong reasons and not looking at the dark and deeper story that it really has.

There's an English dub trailer of the new Devilman out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ3mErRl_BQ

From what I can hear, the English voices are likely

Ryo Asuka - Robbie Daymond
Miki Makimura - Christina Vee
Akira Fudo - ??? (voice sounds familiar, but I can't place a name O.o help)
Mi-ko - Cherami Leigh
Nagasaki - Dave Wittenberg ??? (not sure)
Female demon - Cindy Robinson
