Problem is, wasn't most of the Micronauts lore of the 70s and 80s created by the Marvel Comics adaptation? Will they have access to any of that?

No, and if their rewrite of ROM is any indication the replacement will suck.

Also GI Joe? Last I checked IDW scrapped all the comics but the Larry Hama one because of low sales and an idiot writer who called his critics Nazis.

I'll be honest, I'm highly skeptical. If Hasbro thinks they can be like Marvel and DC, by all means. But these days you never know. Film you think would be successes are flops, and flops are successes. So who knows.
