You ever wonder if the reason they picked to adapt "Detective Pikachu" to film was because a.) No one is nearly as familiar with it as the mainline games or show, and b.) The original "Detective Pikachu" is already wonderfully bizarre enough as it is?

IIRC, there's rumors that the game's been submitted to the ratings board in EU, so it might be coming out West.
As for me, I guess my 2019 birthday party has been decided. Sorry Avengers 4, but the party will be May 11th, and we're seeing Detective Pikachu! (I usually do the new Marvel movie, since my birthday is early May)

Welp... it's set up to bomb...
If it's a good movie I'm going to see it thanks to it's combo of great writers and Ryan Reynolds. As I said during the Ryan Reynolds announcement, I would be more surprised if this movie isn't tongue in cheek in the slightest thanks to that combo.

Yeah, I've lost all interest, whoever the SOB that cast Ryan Reynolds is can shove this movie up his ass.

Why not both? I mean, it's bizarre, nobody will complain about whitewashing and stuff, it's bizarre, you don't need to follow pokemon to enjoy it, and did I say bizarre?
I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo will do a remake/port or even sequel for the game.

Only a nimrod would complain about whitewashing Pokemon in the first place. Every installment of the franchise has been modified in some way after coming over - the Pokemon are renamed and so are many of the characters.
What I really want to know is how they plan on handling the Pokemon, especially the ones that look like they were scribbled by a five year old in a hurry. Or maybe they'll just do like Pokemon Go and stick to the original 151.

What would be even weirder is if Ikue Otani still provided the "chu" noises in scenes where the character switches from English to Poke'speak.
