Too bad. I like a little Japan-a-Radio every now and then. I hope it's up soon. And I hope it never goes away forever. There's really nothing else like it on the net.

If you want help them by donating some money. If they do not get enough money to continue to operate they will refund your money.

Yeah, we have had some DNS issues. Everything is getting back to normal now. Japan-A-Radio prides itself on it's stability, great programming, and great sound. In the last 4 1/2 years of operations, this has been the biggest technical glitch ever, causing a minor outage in website and stream availability from the website. The streams remained online and available through AudioRealm, SHOUTcast, and IceCast directories.

Thanks for reading this post. Smile

Curious: I just tuned in via iTunes, and heard Japan-a-Radio's request that users of WinAmp and VLC use an "AAC+" stream they have set up, which I presume offers as good or better sound at a lower bitrate.

Being that AAC is iTunes' "native" format, I wonder if it supports this new stream? I'd be disappointed to learn it didn't.

Prepare to be disappointed. I am really not sure why Apple has taken so long to add this to their radio directory as an option to support. I think with a bunch of people contacting apple iTunes support to add AAC+ for the radio streams would be a huge benefit for both their customers, and for them. It would definately benefit the radio stations who use AAC+ as 128k mp3 is might expensive to continue operating.

iTunes does not currently (as of version 6) does not currently support aacplus for radio streams. We would like them to add support for it, and as a member of their directory, have asked for it, but have not yet received a response. I hope they don't treat their customers that way.
