Hopefully this time around we actually get good guest characters to play as but other than that I am looking forward to this game. Very Happy

Mitsurugi looks young and he's wearing his Soul Calibur 1 armor so is this a prequel? 1.5? Will buy day one whatever the case. Sure hope it has a better story than SCV.

What I want from a Soul Calibur game:

  • No stupid guest characters. No Heihachi, no Kratos, no Spawn, and for god's sake, no f'in Darth Vader.
  • Rein in the ludicrous breast sizes. This isn't DOA folks, you don't need to have your female characters going up one cup size every game. Poor Taki.
  • Don't let the AI cheat so much. Last one of these I really played the hell out of, Soul Calibur III, totally cheated with getting out of throws. Namely, to escape a throw in 2-player, you input A or B, and if it matches the A or B that the attacker used to initiate the throw, you escape. That means you have a 50% of escape if you hit a button at all. In single-player, the AI escapes 80-90% of throws, which basically takes throws out of your repertoire. Cheap.
  • For heaven's sake, use two words, and title case. Soul Calibur, not SOULCALIBUR. The preview trailer is not encouraging in this respect.

The guest characters are happening whether you like it or not. It's practically SC's trademark. The title is kind of a huge nitpick.

What I want from this game:

- For the solo campaign I really want the chronicles campaign with the possibility to make your own character back (SC3). It's better to have one long and good story rather than 50 bad ones, especially if you get the option to pick whatever character and fighting style you want.
- DoA Guest characters would be great (and long overdue)!
- Try making the generation change natural without killing off everyone of your older characters all at once.
- Make whatever you think the market wants in regards to designs, don't pander to political interest groups outside the demographic you intend to target. (Older SCs usually got this covered in regards for people being able to make their own costumes from a ton of tools.)
- Make new and interesting stages.

By the looks of it, this game is a prequel since Sophitia is around and Mitsurugi looks young. On the one hand, this means Patroklos won't be in this game. On the other, this means I won't get the pleasure of stabbing the shit out of him in versus mode.

Not for nothing but making outfits that show too little skin or having a 3rd of the female side of the roster appealing to certain fetishes or kinks isn't exactly something that's gotten these games a whole lot of positive buzz from it's own fanbase (and politics doesn't have anything to do with that sentiment).
