Short for "doujin circle," which is simply a group of artists who create self-published content.

Apparently, it took longer than I expected for a series that isn't named Touhou to usurp Kantai Collection in terms of tally count.

Circle is a term used to refer to a group of people having at least one interest or profession in common.

I'm not surprised to see this happen. F/GO has been at least as popular as Kancolle and IM@S on Pixiv, so it was only a matter of time for that to filter into doujinshi.

the Nasuverse or Fate franchise

Um, which is it? Those two are not equivalent. Fate is a subset of the Nasuverse like the Avengers are a subset of Marvel.

I think Fate/Order pushed it up, and then the on going anime, plus the movie.

I think the Fate universe has now expanded beyond the point I can care anymore. TV shows, movies, games, books and hundreds of figures, not to mention, licensed, unlicensed and probably never will be licensed, they have lost me. I can't keep up with it.

At least it's not messed up like Taroverse, where you need to read manga, watch concerts if you want to get all information about characters and universe. Most of new works in Nasuverse are standalone and you can enjoy them without even read FSN.

With the Fate- universe expanding in quick succession, it was only a matter of time before it overtook KanColle in doujinshi.

I'm with you there. Its not that I don't enjoy the content.

It didn't even beat Kantai Collection by much so I don't see how this is a big thing. What's really surprising is how much Kantai Collection dropped in Doujin circles. Is it losing steam?

I wonder if it has to with the Chinese take of ship girls Azur Lane that's been gaining a lot of attention.

Probably, since the progress of KanColle has been slowing to a crawl for quite a while now...
