New season wh---oh right. Never.
It's amazing how old this show is now. I keep thinking of it as a relatively new series. |

Glad they went with the chronological order, instead of the dumb broadcast order. No guys, it isn’t fun watching shit out of f#cking order! And it never was.

Odd, I actually thought it was a lot more enjoyable in broadcast order. The general consensus back in the day seemed to be that watching them in chronological order ended up front-loading the biggest plot and emotional moments near the beginning of the series and leaving a bunch of fluff at the end, while the broadcast order kept a more even pacing between episodes.

You see, the addition of Season 2 adding Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody and the Novel 2 "Sigh" adaptation into the mix, as well as the "Disappearance" Movie adaptation of Novel 4 serving as the "finale point", has made the 2006 broadcast order pretty much obsolete. The 2006 series simply used the broadcast order as an excuse to adapt a lot of the fun side stories, while spreading out the adaptation of the first novel across the season's run. It was a cool and experimental idea at the time, but with the expansion of the franchise outside of those initial 14 episodes became something that was no longer needed. |

I watched the entire series long after the movie came out and enjoyed the broadcast order quite a lot but to each their own I guess.

Lol I wondered why the article went out of it's way to emphasize that. |

Well, that's fair. After Endless Eight happened, that basically completely killed my enthusiasm for the series, so I've really only got fond memories of everything that happened before that. |

We still waiting for season 3, but at least all the light novels are out so you can read the story after the anime ends in novel form~
I agree, and that's exactly how I feel about the Garden of Sinners movies! |

And the Kara no Kyoukai movies were all the stronger for their out of order pacing. It keeps you from realizing that the story is all about spoiler[the love story between Shiki and Kokuto ] until near the end. Let me guess, you didn't like the 5th movie more than the others for the same reason? |

You would be correct IF this was just season 1, but when you combine season 1 and 2 together with the extra stories and the movie as the climax then I'd have to disagree. I wouldn't have minded them sticking the endless 8 episodes randomly though |

Finally... I now get to enjoy endless eight reactions of everyone on Crunchyroll
(if they even get through that arc, that is...) I can watch endless eight any time, I even got the endless eight special DVD box when it came out back in 2009 |

I can't decide really, I do agree a bit. When it first came out and there was all this buzz about it being so great - I thought I need to watch this for sure! Well, I tried like four times to watch episode 0. Five or ten minutes into it I would turn it off. I was sure everyone had gone crazy. I mean, my likes have never been very synced with mainstream interest - but this was something I could never like. But, I made it past 0 one day and got to episode 1. Everything was okay then. I even liked the endless eight. Bottom line - for me it was exciting. I did go back and watch it in order later. I think Crunchyroll even gave you the option on which order to watch later on. |

Boring coincidence: I woke up Monday morning of this week with "God Knows" stuck in my head like as soon as I opened my eyes. I have never watched Haruhi Suzumiya and that and the ending song and dance are the only things of substance I even know of the franchise. When I saw they added it to Crunchyroll the very next day I was mildly shook. I think the universe is telling me it's finally time to watch this show.

That's not even correct even if there wasn't a season 2. 1) The climax isn't for the series, it's for the six episode Light Novel adaptation. Have people ever suggested to try reading some of the following short stories in between chapters of the first book? 2) Most slice of life series don't have climaxes. Novels do but they tend to be about specific things. 3) "I found Someday in the Rain to be a very unsatisfying conclusion. I don't want to end on an episode that left me wanting more." I did, I do. I still want more even now. 4) I still remember how hard it was to convince people that there was a season 2 during its 2009 chronological rebroadcast. "It's chronological, it's rubbish." It's necessary. In retrospect, this disorder thing was a pretty bad idea all around, huh? 11 years later and it still has to come with a disclaimer "This is not as the first season was originally presented." On the other hand, there was never an official second season because it was just introduced as one long series. |
