Maybe this is why funimation didn't do a special or limited edition for drifters season 1

Well that's a weird way to start sequel, but hey as long as we'll get an actual season 2 after that I'll be happy

Didn't the anime catch up with the manga? Are they planning on the second half being anime original?

The first season covered the first 44 chapters and it's currently at 68 so I'm not sure what they're planning.

Maybe they're going the Hellsing Ultimate route? That could explain why they're "starting" with releasing 13 and 14 only, and plan to release the series in batches.

This is going to hurt Funimation's release. Don't know why the Japanese didn't clean it up for their home video release.

The last episodes of the BD release fucked up the order of scenes compared to the TV version already, so I'm wondering what else they want to change.

@TarsTarkas: by now, I think we could devote an entire ANN column to Executive Meddling or screw-ups the Japanese studios have done.

That's very interesting, sounds like good reason to rework some stuff from the last couple of eps if they were that pressed for time when finishing the season.
Loved season one so I'm really looking forward to more.
Wonder how Funimation is going to work out releasing these and how "season 2" is going to work if they are starting by releasing the first two episodes of the continuation straight to blu-ray/dvd (rather than or before airing it).

This would be rather interesting.
