You sure about that? This article suggests GITS did way better than that.

Edit: Just in case ANN tries to make excuses again, like earlier today. 'Translated' from Google:

Ghost in the Shell Blu-ray + DVD + Bonus Blu-ray Set "(First Press Limited Edition) released on August 23 was the winner of this week's top spot.

But hey, Egan thinks I'm wrong, and it only refers to DVD sales. And even then, it's still not factored into ANN's DVD update link, either. Plus, he gotta think I'm really stupid to believe that, when it's the flipping Blu-Ray cover in the actual Tsutaya link. Not to mention that a certain someone who has a stake in it making money in Japan has confirmed this shit as real.

But hey, with honesty like that, at least Loo can find additional work calling boxing matches on behalf of casinos.

Oh, look. Egan's trying to split hairs, now that he got called on his bullshit. ANN gotta update its slogan now to, 'The internet's most trusted anime news source, when it's convenient.'

Quote:
* Oricon and Tsutaya are counting the combo Blu-ray + DVD release differently (Blu-ray versus DVD rankings)

Ok, and Tsutaya covered Blu-Ray rankings.

Quote:
* Oricon and Tsutaya are counting different samples (multiple retailers versus one store chaiin)

One store chain which obviously means something, in terms of sales, if said producer on said film verified the story.

So live action Ghost in the Shell sells better in Japan apparently.

The article linked above is about DVD sales from one store chain (Tsutaya), not Blu-ray sales from multiple retailers from the research firm Oricon.

Granblue continues to bring in the sweet hotcakes! Smile
A bit sad that BanG Dream is still selling on the low side...

The release is a Blu-ray+DVD combo. Oricon counts it in its Blu-ray ranking (for multiple retailers). Tsutaya counts it in its DVD ranking (for one store chain).

Please point out where the inaccuracies lie.

There are two issues:
* Oricon and Tsutaya are counting the combo Blu-ray + DVD release differently (Blu-ray versus DVD rankings)

* Oricon and Tsutaya are counting different samples (multiple retailers versus one store chaiin)

As noted in the article's introduction, Oricon does report that the live-action Ghost in the Shell did outsell Granblue Fantasy and every other Blu-ray release, if we group all three of its releases together (although not if we add Granblue Fantasy's Blu-ray and DVD releases together).

Katsugeki is doing fairly but not as good as its sister series Hanamaru which sold 20k average. I guess the touken danshi fans aren't a fan of Ufotable's unlimited budget, or maybe the characters featured are uninteresting.
