Is the perfect manga for a dorama. But do you think it will be better than Densha Otoko?

This is the old one, which has been out for a few years, right? Forgot it's name.

No, it's a brand new Drama. The old one was a movie.

I can only hope it's not as bad as that movie was... Being that MI is my favorite seires however, I doubt that even a well done drama will be able to take its place.

If the writing is as well done as it was for GTO-live action, I'm sure it'll be an enjoyable watch. That's the very least I can hope for. Smile

I agree with Godaistudios. Maison Ikkoku is absolutely my favorite manga of all time. I really hope that this TV series does it justice. I also hope that that the story will take place during the 80s like it did in the manga.

I wonder who's gonna play Godai and Kyoko?

I might have miss read it, but I heard it was coming in one of upcoming DVD Sets (6 I think).

EDIT: It was the OVA. Besides, I didn't know you all were talking about the Live Action and not the anime movie.

If you haven't seen the live-action MI, then count your blessings.

I saw it a few years ago, and it was pretty bad.

The rumour has been around on chinese newspaper for a while. It might not be a japanese production though. It could be like the Taiwanese drama series adaptation of Maralade Boy & Hana Youni Otoko (the one featuring Taiwan popular group F4)

So far the rumour has been saying Kyoko will be played by a popular koren actress , Godai will be played by one of the guys from F4. Hong Kong singer Andy Hui will be in it too.

Considering korean dramas are so popular in Japan right now, the rumour might be true!

There is already a live action MI movie?

I pretty much agree with everyone else. I love Maison Ikkoku, it was my first manga, and to this day, still my favourite. I haven't watched the anime series, but I did look at the live-action movie, which was bad enough for me to not bother watching the entire thing. So I'm hoping that the new drama series will be good.

This is the only place where I found anything about this movie.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0194129/

I've since long lost the tape for this movie, nor am I inclined to look for another copy.

I've seen it raw - it came off as a lame attempt to be funny. It was poorly directed and badly written. I felt sorry for the actors and it made me wonder why they even bothered signing on to the project.

While I'm sure I still have the tape around somewhere, I have no urge to find it and see it ever again.

What a great news. I hope the drama will be good and that lots of episodes will be released.. 12 minimum. Gto drama was excellent and so was Meteor Garden based on Hana Yori Dango. Lets wait and see how this goes but I really have my fate with this project.
