You sure showed those strawmen! She's also tremendously jealous and possessive, very prone to violence, and can be pretty devious/underhanded. But I suppose if you're going to idealize nearly 40 year old rom-com characters to advance your petty grievances with modern society, it's necessary to pick and choose characteristics you like and ignore those that don't neatly fit your ideal.

What a weird thing to say about a picture of a cartoon space ogre!

That's called being tsundere. Lum was one of the original waifus. The birth of moe, most experts say.

Either way, I hope we can all agree that more Lum is a good thing.

Yep, yandere isn't exactly a good representation of femininity. Someone like Chiya Ujimatsu from Gochiusa is a better representation.

Lum wasn't tsundere or yandere; as I've said before, she was, well...Jeannie.
Only the difference that first struck me was unlike 60's US sitcoms, nobody had to go around hiding the fact that Lum was an alien, flew, had her own UFO, or zapped her darling with lightning. People just sort of knew it for a fact (the race had been on TV all over the world), and it didn't seem to be stranger than anything else that happened in Tomobiki.

How about we discuss the actual topic and not the OT bait that was removed.

It looks like Takahashi's design for character has become more stylized since the '80s. Lum's eyes used to be larger and more expressive, similar to the TV series. Glad the character is still being used in some form.

JoeOfTomorrow, if your comments are removed, that's an indication that the line you were going down doesn't fly here. Don't push it further, just back off in here. You won't be warned again.

In 9/2018, we will have the 40th anniversary to what it is perhaps the grand-parent of all harem manga, UY.

(sigh) IT'S. NOT. HAREM.
It's Girl-In-The-Closet. (How do you think the genre got its name?)
Oh My Goddess wasn't "harem". Video Girl Ai wasn't "harem". Chobits wasn't "harem".
