Aside from a few hiccups, I hope it keeps up the pace.

Granblue Fantasy may be one of my favorites this season. So far I've enjoyed every bit of it and I love the characters. The artstyle too looks incredibly nice.

What is up with the artstyle? The character outlines are so shaggy it looks like they just colored in the sketches and didn't have time to finish them. It seems to be more pronounced with each episode and it's distracting.
That aside, I agree that the villains are pretty ridiculous so far. It's as if they don't really want to commit to making the series as dark is it would be if you could take them seriously. But I like all the MCs. So we get two floating island series this season. I wonder what the vine wielder's deal is? (pls don't tell me, kthnxbai) |

Pretty sure the sketch-style is intentional, and I absolutely adore it. It makes everything look lovely. Didn't notice anything more pronounced than where the animation budget went. |

The source game allows you to play as a female avatar, Djeeta.
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/granblue/images/5/57/Djeeta_2.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20170205153149 Granblue’s anime producer said he was initially planning to make Gran and Djeeta co-leads for the anime, but the corporate overlords at Cygames refused – they wanted to maintain the “boy meets girl aspect of Gran meeting Lyria”. The producer is still trying to see if they can use Djeeta in some way. |

It it was applied to everything it wouldn't bother me. But since it's only applied to the characters (and for the most part, only when they're moving or will move within a shot), it just makes it look unfinished, like it was rushed out the door. |

Seems reallllly generic through 3 episodes, maybe something will happen but it doesn't seem possible for it to become really great and have any substantial meaning. I kept falling asleep in episode 3. Probably having such seemingly stupid and non-threatening villains means it doesn't have any sense of risk or danger for the heroes which means it's more boring for the viewers.

I like how they keep reminding us that Gran's breastplate is the only thing between him and (another) death.

The beginning was so generic fantasy that I was debating whether to stay or not, and then SUDDENLY... Vyrn, blessed with the voice of the Loli Tsundere Goddess herself, opened his mouth and spoke.
It was then that I knew I would watch this series to the last episode. #TrueStory |

Well seriously, I can't even describe my feelings to this show - because this series both being extremely generic with it's plot, written by the book of classical JRPG cliches... and extremely appealing to my nostalgia sense, because it's really just the old-school fantasy adventure with classic Final Fantasy vibes - nothing more, nothing less.
And to hell with it, I totally in love with this warm old games adventure story feeling. The main party is the solid team for epic adventure: they're more awesome, сohesive and really friendly bunch than the group in Tales of Zestiria "adaptation", damn. |

This has been reviewing better than I thought! I'm happily surprised that cygames has put their properties into good hands for both this and Bahamut.
From what I've played of Granblue, it has a really enjoyable story for a f2p gatcha game, guess it's time to check out the anime too. Unfortunately Vyrn is still pretty grating in most of the stories in the game that I've experienced, hopefully they find a way to smooth him over later in this season. |

Psh, I love Vyrn. I've been totally defending him. The thing is, even as the reviewer noted this week, Vyrn doesn't actually interject all that much. He has been mainly limited in his speaking and mostly just provides commentary or reaction to what is going on. This isn't one of those mascot characters who is constantly seizing the spotlight or being loud and obnoxious. Instead, every so often he provides a reaction to something that's happening, and his reactions are the type of reaction you would expect another member of the team to make. Really, this is probably one of the most minor mascot roles I have seen in a show. |

I love Vyrn too, but I really don't need to read spoilers about him, so can all of you please either keep that stuff out of this thread or put it behind spoiler tags? Thanks.
