With Dazai and Chuuya in the key visual, the movie looks like it'll be pretty interesting.

As for the stage play....... I'm still of the mind that they don't need to be turning everything into a stage play.

Nice! I was wondering what Bones were up to, since they've been fairly silent about their projects for this year.

They're animating 2nd season of My Hero Academia this spring, in case if you didn't hear the news.

Yeah, I know about that and Kekkai Sensen Beyond, but besides that we don't know what else they're planning this year. I expect them to have something for the summer and fall seasons.

I was hoping for another tv season. Movies always take so long to come over. I'm all for Dazai and Chuuya being the main protagonists though. They have such a fun dynamic and Dazai was pretty much the reason I loved the show.

Aw yiss, I'm always up for more Bungou. I don't mind film, hope I can catch it in my local theatre (would be extra sweet to get some merch if they can manage it).

Well, the Sakugabooru blog site did post a couple of articles regarding possible future projects later this year. One article featured a translation of a questionnaire from the February 2017 issue of NewType Magazine where representatives of various briefly mentioned plans for 2017 and another article featured rumors from the sakuga thread of 2ch about possible projects down the pipe.

Quote:
BONES: They’re working on an original project that’s in already production and another one that may be broadcasted this year.

Quote:
The post also claims Keisuke Kojima (desuran) is supposedly doing character designs for a movie production, and that the title of BONES’ new original TV series is “Star Girls”. Well, we’ll see!

Quote:
Today, a poster in that thread claimed Rie Matsumoto is directing an original anime at BONES with Satoshi Ishino doing character designs, slated for Summer. As you can see, there’s no end to this kind of rumors. Yeah, some of this stuff seems pretty ridiculous at first sight, but only time will tell which rumors are false and which true. For now, all we can do it speculate!

Again, want to stress that the latter article is all rumors but sometimes the rumors can be reliable due to people supposedly from the industry occasionally providing said-rumors, so take it all with a grain of salt.

EDIT: Oh, and there was a third article from Sakugabooru blog featuring a translated roundtable interview featuring Yuji Matsukura, a producer at JC Staff and Masahiko Minami, president and co-founder of Studio Bones, who also teased about an original project, all from the Feburary 2017 Newtype issue:

Quote:
– What do you have planned for this year?

Minami: From the announced ones, we have My Hero Academia Season 2 and Blood Blockade Battlefront Season 2. We’re also working on an original project that’s in production and another one that may be broadcasted this year.

Matsukura: We only have announced 4 titles for January, but there’s more stuff planned from April onward.

Bones confirmed to ANN in an interview a while ago that they are working on three original projects, even. Not saying we'll be seeing all of them this year, or that all of them are TV shows, but I think that's something to get exciting about either way.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see another season of Mob Psycho 100 (probably not this year, though). Or rather, I'd be surprised not to see a second season. In fact they haven't ended a show after 1-cour since Un-Go in 2011 (and Soul Eater Not, if you want to count that, but the manga had only 5 volumes anyway and ended shortly after the anime).

I did read those interviews and snippets a while ago, let's see if any of them come out this year.

I'm also expecting a Mob Psycho season 2, it didn't do too bad in terms of sales and it would make sense to adapt more since the manga is ending soon. Fingers crossed.

Only time can tell. We don't even know anything about the Japanese release yet.
