I truly wonder when Funimation will learn that dubs are terrible and they should feel terrible. Rolling Eyes

When are you gonna learn to respect what other people like and not make ignorant comments like this?

Try harder next time.

On a more positive note I like this cast (Though for whatever reason I was thinking Rob McCollum would be Tetsuo, but Cris George sounds like a good choice.) I especially like that Terri Doty is getting more starring roles. I can hear her using her Virgo voice for Machi.

For some reason I was hoping Bryn Apprill was going to be in this, so consider me pleased.

Not only is it disrespectful to fans but also everyone at Funi who are working hard and putting out quality work. I'm sure it's just a troll post but you can just avoid dubs if you don't want to watch them.

It's 2017, time to update your material.

Glad to see Teri getting a big role. I've met her a few times, she deserves bigger parts like this.

And the answer to that question is --
NEVER unless this troll grows up--
OR leaves anime, which is for the better.

I didn't like this type of "fan" in the mid-1990s when they gave grief to people who liked earlier, pre-subbed, DUBBED titles, I don't like them now.

Sure, some dubs ARE worse than others, no doubt...
Dubs nowadays are generally better than they were in the past but there's still room to improve.
Occasionally, though, they do come up with surprises and sometimes (though not often) the English is held up as better than the Japanese original.

All I know is that most of those titles that are STILL sold in-store are cheaper BECAUSE of the dub track, not despite it.
Most of the anime fans, whether the resident troll likes this fact or not, WANT the dub track...

Just watched through the dub, well, kind of half-watched/mostly-listened, and I have to say, the script and acting is pretty solid so far. I like Cris George as Takahashi, though I do agree with an above comment about Rob McCollum being a good pick.

Everyone sounded pretty good for the most part, though I wasn't QUITE sold on Terri Doty as Machi. Maybe episode 2 will sell me on her considering the attention she gets. Bryn Apprill as Hikari Takanashi is pretty spot on, and I like how she handles the role. I'm interested in hearing more of Morgan Garrett as Sakie Satou, as I've heard her in bit roles before, but nothing to substantial. I may listen to the next one or two dubbed episodes to see how they fare, and if I like it, I may end up doing a double-watch (which I've done for a few of Funimation's simuldubs before, like The Rolling Girls).

I'm really glad this is getting a dub because it's been a great show so far, and it'd be a shame if dub-only fans couldn't get around to it. And before any sub-elitists combat that with "why can't they just read subs?!", I'll say that some folks have issues reading subtitles or captioning, simply prefer not to, or understand visual entertainment better when it's in their native language. Others may have reading disorders as well. We can't exclude these folks from enjoying such great forms of entertainment! Anime should be for EVERYONE, otherwise, it'll be a dying art that no one will be able to enjoy in the future.

-Marc.

I also thought Robert McCollum would've been a really good choice, but I'm glad Cris George got the part. I think this is his first main protagonist role, and he sounds like a natural fit for the character. Smile

I just saw the first episode of this show. Let's just say it was really boring.

Reeeeeeally boring. How was this the best rated episode 1 of the season? Dub was good but the show itself is awful. How the heck did this show get picked to be on Dubbletalk?

I watched the first episode twice (I'll explain in a minute) and I really enjoyed it, I really like the dub cast as well.

I usually don't watch slice of life so it has to be an interesting concept for me to give it a shot, and I really do like this one so far. I find it very interesting how demi-humans are handled in this and am looking forward to finding out more about them and how they live in a world like ours.

I also like how so far it doesn't seem to have any ecchi really, which is why I started watching it together with my mom (watched it once on my own and once with her). She also loves anime and she really likes it so far, but obviously anything with too much ecchi would be an awkward watch together, so I hope that doesn't change in future episodes.

I agree i feel like adding ecchi scenes would give the show an uncomfortable feeling watching with your parents or not. Mostly because of the age difference I'm also not a fan of that stuff with the teacher and student relationship.
