The Akiba's Trip games are fun enough as games (my wife got us the second one) but I can't imagine it as a anime.
I do! It's also noted in both the Japanese and English Wikipedia articles on late night anime as being the first late night anime that started the current boom of late night (and 13 episode) series. |

Honestly the worst part of the apostrophe pun in Akiba's trip is that they did't commit to it in the sequel. Akiba Sbeat? Nonsense.

Man I wish the show was actually about that instead! When they combine they just become a regular dude! Liver dude can probably drink infinite amount of alcohol! A true hero for adults. |

Thanks for the reviews.... Scratching off Akiba's trip. Can definitely do without that one.

As to the show itself for Akiba's Trip, I did like the parody of LN technobabble and the brief references to other Gonzo shows, in particular Seiyuu's Life and the Anatomy Rangers have the delightful oddness that I enjoy. The fanservice was serviceable. I actually preferred the game version of the heroine, though that is more personal taste than poor design per se, not that I played the game. I'll probably keep watching but it is not AOTS material by far. Hopefully the dub goes well so they can make true simuldubs at least occasionally though I don't personally watch them.

I pray that you pardon this observation of mine, but given what I know of the franchise in question, I would not have thought that such a game would be the most conventional option for a gift between spouses... |

Because Beat isn't part of the series in the way it's a sequel. It's kind of in the same vein that Samurai Western was to Way of the Samurai; same ideas but very different execution.
Considering how "equal opportunity" the English release and later Japanese re-release were, it wouldn't surprise me. |

Either way I would have liked to have seen the same level of puntastic title. |

Shows I know I will be following, at least for the first few episodes:
Little Witch Academia Masamune-kun's Revenge Chain Chronicle Fuuka Youjo Senki: Saga of Tanya the Evil Kuzu no Hankai (this one I'm on the fence about, but will probably give it an initial try) Beyond that I'll wait to see what everyone's reactions are before adding anything else. |

No offense taken, certainly. The game actually wasn't even on my radar before she got me it. My wife likes the otaku references and realistic Akihabara depiction, and has no objection to fanservice. (The game is not quite equal opportunity, I'd say; while it's not exclusively stripping women, they have a greater variety of interesting outfits.)
Perhaps a "Akiba'S Team" about a group with a nefarious dumpling plot? Or public baths? Or something else involving boiling water? |

I actually quite enjoyed the first episode of Akiba's Trip. Is it AotS material? No, definitely not, but it was a fun way to kill some time for me.

The schedule: https://static.neregate.com/2016/12/neregate.com-Winter-2016-2017-Anime-Chart-v3.jpg
2015 and 2016 were very forgettable in terms of tv anime and this season continues that trend in a major way. Things will look up later in the year but another vapid moe apocalypse is upon us, for now. Little Witch Academia The original film was just ok, the sequel lost me and the staff carried over to the tv version. It will look nice, so I will give the pilot a chance. I have to watch something after all but no excitement here. Onihei The industry needs more easy to recognize Seinen anime, outside of the slice-of life and action genre. Historical samurai are way too rare too. The director is responsible for the worst Lupin specials of all time and I never touched the 90s manga (based on the source books), yet hope dies last. Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-he I said my piece on this subpar season but it also features an anime of the year candidate. The 1st season was the 2nd best show of 2016 after all and how rare are (quality) Josei anime. Last month had a completely unhinged Osomatsu-san special and The Dragon Dentist (from the overall weak Japan Animator Expo project) will get 2 specials by Khara. The Genocidal Organ will finally come out and it should prove to be the sole good entry in the Project Itoh "series", as I like the manga adaptation. RIP Manglobe. Lupin the IIIrd Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon has the potential to be the best anime film of 2017. Jigen's Gravestone was somewhat flawed, and so is the project´s take on Goemon, but all involved had enough time to reflect. I won´t bother with Space Battleship Yamato 2202, as I saw the whole original franchise back in the day, and this is a remake of the 2nd 70s tv show. I even ain´t that big a fan but it´s nice to see usually worthless Xebec do something worthwhile. The latest One Piece film also came out on Blu-ray. I´ll check out the action scenes Youtube and the Cyborg 009:Call of Justice films lastly continue, but i still have to see the 1st. The tv season´s loss is ultimately the film seasons gain! |

Akiba's Trip was ridiculously stupid fun. It was upbeat and just charming in a way that too few lower grade anime aim to be. And Gonzo definitely went the right route by making it a bit more budget than they could have.
It looks colourful and is full of just bombast and ridiculousness that I can honestly see keeping me entertained throughout the whole season. Definitely going to keep this one on my "to watch" list due to the pure fun of it. Also, if this is what the plot of the first game was like... why did we never get it here? (Other than the obvious PSP death) It's so much more compelling than the kind of... hmm... awful opening that Akiba's Trip 2 had. |

Huh, i'm actually conflicted on Akiba's Trip
On the one hand, I like Keijo and Konosuba a lot for being over the top funny romps so the show might be nice On the other hand, I'm not sure how its executed in comparison to Keijo and Konosuba Anyone got advice? Also, can we get a review of the Fate/Grand Order OVA that came out? I would like to hear if it's worth my time |
