In a way, Chinese audience is more versatile than any other country. They love Hollywood movies, their homegrown movies, now this Japanese movie (3d doraemon also did very good business), Indian movies, (3 idiot did very good there), even Russian movies (Stalingrad).

Just a question, but with the current numbers it suggest that 508 million Yen is equal too 26 million USD seeing as the current Box office is 19,492,000,000 yen and that is equal too 174 million USD and 20 billion Yen equals 200 million USD.
So, why do the articals always say that 20 billion yen is about 200 million USD when that is clearly not true. On top of which, they accurately depict the current Box office but wrongfully depict the projected. It's kinda annoying. |

Dunno where you're getting that from. Exchange rates vary constantly, but right now one dollar = 113.51 yen. It usually hovers around one yen = one US cent (right now it's slightly less than a cent), so that's used as an approximation. 19.498 billion / 113.51 = 171.77 million, which is very close to the number in the article. 508 million yen is only about 4.5 million dollars. Going by the one-cent approximation, 20 billion yen to 200 million dollars is usually about right. |

And yet the disk release lies almost perilously into the future. Beyond reach, barely within conception... I have been informed that this film's domestic success, combined with its limited western theatrical run, has been a double-edged sword for those keen on promoting the legal access routes to anime. |

Okay, I'm about 99% sure you didn't read past the line you quoted me. Let me help you
That is in the same sentence you quoted me from. I'm basically saying that they state that 19,492,000,000 yen = 174 million USD. Then, they state that the projected box office Gross in Japan is going to be 20 billion Yen which according to them equals 200 million USD. From there just simply: 200 - 174 = 26 million and 20,000,000,000 - 19,492,000,000 = 508 million Yen. Then you take the difference in Yen to go (508 million yen) and compare their USD equvalents that the ARTICAL provides which is 26 Million USD. This artical is stating that once the film garners another 508 million yen it will be Grossing 200 million USD. They get one figure tranlated correctly and the other incorrectly and have need doing so for the past few articals. That is all I was saying. |

Looks like "your name" is continuing it's winning streak. I hope it does well in the U.S. From what I've heard of it,it deserves to.
