Now's a good time to be a mobile developer. Unless it's something you don't want to do.

Despite the recent update it looks like Pokémon Go is still rising in popularity and profits. The only question now is how long will it last. Confused

Amazing that Pokémon GO has brought in that much money despite the recent problems it underwent from its earlier update. Hopefully catching Pokémon won't be nearly as much of a tedious chore now that Niantic fixed the Tracking feature with its "Sightings" tracker.

The whole issue with the tracker was overblown. People complained about it and then probably went to their local park with 3+ pokestops lured 24/7 and realized it doesn't matter all that much.

Well, unless you're one of the 99.9% that make no money because everyone's too busy playing the 0.001% of games that achieve mind-boggling levels of popularity. Though you might get to be the 0.099% that see moderate success...

You could say the same thing for any other industry in a boom period. Mobile gaming, however, requires an incredibly low amount of capital to jump into.

Though you might get caught in an economic bubble.

With that $200 million, a good percentage goes to Nintendo/Game Freak. After all the deductions, I wonder how much Niantic gets. For a newer company, getting a few million would be nice.

Nintendo actually only gets 13% of the profits so...

Of the profits only, or of the total revenue? (Then again, I'd say at this point Pokémon GO is mostly profits, as sales are totally automatic and nothing tangible is being bought. The main costs are paying the people to maintain it and upkeep of the facility where they do it.)

Can't say for sure though what I read a few weeks ago said profits so idk.Though to be fair at this point that's 26mil which isn't too bad for something that is basically just them renting out their IP lol.
