This is a review that I agree with, but I feal the Dub needs a grade of a D, The typical New Gen dub that has come out over the last year.

Awww, he didn't mention about how the NY VAs like Sam Regal and Megan Hollingshead were part of this. Oh well.

I have yet to see this since New Generation Pictures does pretty good job on dubs especially on anime series that really sucked like Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko and Ikkitousen. Very Happy

I suspect absolute awesomeness in the best of their ability just like the dubs in R.O.D TV, Hellsing, and Haibane Renmei.

I am more worried about the subtitle script, New Gen Subtitle scripts have been hit or miss for me sence I have one semester of College Japanese under my belt.

Subtitle Hits for New Gen:

Hellsing
Haibane Renmei
Maze
Biohunter

Subtitle Misses for New Gen

R.O.D. TV
Geobreeders and Geobreeders 2
Wicked City (This one relly gets me uptight)
Agent Akia

Now I understand that most of what I have are older titles they did, but I tend to nit pick.

What would you consider a miss for the subtitles on those titles. I have noticed spelling errors on some older ADV titles (Blue Seed for one), and older Geneon titles, but not on newer stuff

No offense, but one semester of college Japanese is enough to make you think that things are off that just might not be. Translation is an art form, not an exact science, and the more exacting you make it, the worse it gets.

Don't feel bad; most of us went through that at some point in time. This isn't to say the stuff you're attacking doesn't have some mistakes, only that if you think you know better than the pros because you have one semester of Japanese under your belt, think again.

True, and I think ADV and Bang Zoom have the best Translators, I realize that it isn't always perfect.

I start my second of it in the fall and sence it is a three semester corse to learn Japanese I will be able to watch it Raw soon. By then I won't have the complants that I normaly have.

Is it just me, or did anyony else hear of the title "Daphne in the Brilliant Blue" think a Ghibli-ish coming of age story about a girl who wears blue.

Watching the OP really sank that though.

I'm new to these message boards, so I don't know anybody yet... but I'm impressed! I took 3 years of college Japanese, and I wouldn't in my wildest dreams understand the subtleties of a translation, let alone be able to pick one apart. This "corse" of yours must be really good.

Also, thanks for the "D" grade. I suppose it's better than an "F," right? I'm taking it as a compliment! Woohoo!

Anyway, I appreciate all the feedback, especially from fans like you. Looking through past threads, it seems like you watch A LOT of New Gen dubs, which must mean you're a big fan. So, thanks for watching and being a huge New gen supporter!
