3 Lupin movies in 6 months? It's about time they get moving with these already.

Don't forget they had Dead or Alive out on February 22, they'll have Island of Assassins out April 26, and Farewell to Nostradamus out on June 28.

That's one Lupin movie every other month Very Happy

With the stuff they've been releasing, I'm kind of excited to think they might have licensed Lupin the Third Episode:0 'First Contact'. Maybe that will come out next year.

Ah! It's a good time to be a Lupin fan again. I hope those DVDs will sell well so Geneon would have an incentive to continue releasing the second series on DVD. I would also like to them to release the first and third series as well.

Actually, I hadn't heard that. Kick ass.

I wish Geneon would get First Contact. A Lupin movie that good deserves the perfect English cast.

The third series is supposed to be just awful. I don't think it or the 1st series have been licensed.

As to Geneon and the 2nd series, they can blame themselves for playing the series on CN with clearly over-domesticated dubs. It didn't work and so sales sucked. Since Geneon (Pioneer) didn't do the subtitles the way I like, I only purchased the 1st DVD, then sold it later on e-Bay.

How did you want the subtitles to be done?

Despite the goofy over-use of American popculture stuff, the dub is still great. The core cast was voiced perfectly, more so then even the original Japanese cast. I'm not sure what your problem with the subtitles is, though. It's not like they were dubtitled, like damn Funimation did with Voyage to Danger.

While Geneon wasn't faithful in the words spoken in the dub, they were faitful to the feel of the show.

Lupin was actually enjoyable. Look at Super Milk Chan's literal dub and the updated dub. The average consumer would think that the updated dub was funnier.

As for Voyage to Danger, I believe it has two subtitle tracks, one is subtitles for the Japanese track and the other is close captions for the English track. You must've been viewing the close caption track. Switch to the second subtitle option for the literal subtitles!

Yeah, guess it was my fault. Even with the proper subtitle track, though, I'd still dislike the movie. It was pretty weak (which is why I find it strange that it's the highest-requested Lupin DVD on rentanime.com). Unlike a lot of Americanized and modernized dubs, the occasional stupid pop culture reference doesn't detract from the feel of the show, at all. It's still fun as hell to watch. I wish ADV would take a few notes from Geneon.
