Hmm... that's pretty good, considering the statistics, IMO.

Why does Porco get no love? On all of the lists I've seen, PR was always the worst selling DVD of the bunch.

OH SNAP!
I'm suprised that the Cat Returns outsold Porco Rosso. Oh well.

I bought them all.
I did enjoy The Cat Returns more than Porco Rosso though.

I love them all, but Cat Returns was the weakest of the bunch in my opinion. I wish any one of those films could've gotten a theatrical release though. I'm hoping to get these dvds for my b'day next month. ^^

People like cats better than pork, I suppose.

If there's a widespread impression that anime is for kids, and after all The Cat Returns was aimed at kids, then I don't think there's any surprise there at all

I'm just happy that they sold at all, since anime is such a niche market compared to the mainstream, even with Disney's brand-name help to bring in people who don't know about the films beforehand.

My god did that guy just say he liked The Cat Returns more than Porco Rosso? I just watched The Cat Returns yesterday and to be honest although I enjoyed it, I was expecting a lot more. It seemed very much like another anime film, Catnapped, pretty similiar actually.
The movie was more direct to video or short movie not big feature. One of my least favourites, but bear in mine I still loved it
Porco Rosso is great, really love it despite being 13 years old.

Wasn't The Cat Returns a sequel to another film? Or am I confusing it with something else?

It was based off of characters from Whisper of the Heart. More of a spin-off than a sequel apparently.

Wowzers. Three anime films in the top home video sales? Man. Not anime, not even cartoon, but top home video sales. Wow.
I'm glad Disney gave these guys some good publicity. I saw a commercial for the DVDs while watching Leno (Yes, I watch Leno.) and was quite suprised. In a good way!
It seems that there has been a whole lot of buzz about this, not just from Disney but from all over. In the Best Buy mini-catalog that comes with the Sunday paper, there was a nice little blurb filling up abut an entire forth page that said "Buy all three Miyazaki DVDs and get any other anime' DVD FREE!" (That accent mark over "anime'" was theirs, not mine.)
it's good to see that more and more people are finding out about anime nowadays. It's nice to be able to talk to more people about it.
