As the fansubbing stopped at episode 19, and since I've missed the boat as far as obtaining the RAW files of 20-24, I was just wondering if anybody who caught these episodes could give me a run-down of what happened to conclude this series. I enjoyed what it was for what I was able to watch, but once it got licensed and the subbing stopped, I fell out of touch.

No-spoiler response, entirely facetious:

Things that happen in the final episodes of Bakuretsu Tenshi:

Jo kills things.
Kyohei waffles.
Meg gets in trouble, and is rescued by Jo.
Sei's tits get bigger and bigger, defying gravity.
Amy... just gets more annoying.

Apart from that? Ugly monsters with green glowing brain-thingies abound, things blow up, and Jango trips the light fantastic.

Who said formulaic?

Heh... it's most definitely a fluff series. At worst though, for me, it only descended to the level of "merely tolerable."

The major thing about the series is that, for whatever reason, the characters who would appear in only one episode or in a couple got the most character development. Jo is about the only character out of the principals that has any kind of backstory explored (at least in what I saw), leaving everyone else to function as scenery.

And the ridiculous breast size is definitely a trademark of the series; I remember the first time I noticed a drastic difference from episode to episode, and it's too bad in a way. Aside from Meg, everyone was generally well-proportioned to begin the series, but things soon went downhill from there. After all, /begin sarcasm\ who needs a story when you have ginormous mammaries?/end sarcasm\

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, now that I'm finally having a discourse on BakuTen. I think it wouldn't be ridiculous to accuse Gonzo of false advertisement, if only because all of the promotional drawings for the series were so softly drawn with nice coloration and believable proportions. Seeing those pictures in NewType and online gave me such high hopes for the visuals, and instead the characters in the series ended up looking plastic (or maybe silicone-esque Razz) and overbright in comparison.

Regardless, I have a soft spot for the show; I just got my copy of the Perfect Edition OST, and the music is incredibly well done when you're able to listen to it outside of the context of the episodes. However, I don't really think all of the tracks were played in the run of the series (especially some of the vocal tracks that really shine on the CD).

Ah well, guess it's time to wait for a non-facetious spoiler Razz .

Despite my sarcastic remarks... I, too, have a soft spot for BakuTen. The last episode I've seen is no. 20, so I can't give you spoiler-ridden plot outlines for all the episodes that you're missing. Still, for what it's worth:

Ep. 20 - Highway Genocide
(Minnaguroshi no haiwei 「皆殺しのハイウェイ」)
spoiler[This episode is essentially a pastiche of the Robocop movies. It brings very little in the way of progress to the main storyline about the green glowing brain-thingies. It does, however, highlight the fact that RAPT is deeply involved in the project.

Takane is on her way back to Osaka with some friends, when a new model of megahighway patrol cybot (which really incorporates one of the glowing brains) intercepts their vehicle and attacks them. Takane gets righteously pissed in her charming folksy Kansai way, and this leads to a series of events which culminates in a pitched battle between Jango, the trailer-van and three of the patrol cybots, on the megahighway. Boom! Crash! Bang! - and a sudden and jarring end to the episode. Below par for BakuTen, this episode is poorly paced and functions almost as a filler episode. ]
