I just saw in the Top 10 favorite / Top 5 worst thread that people were ranting about Naruto for many reasons, among which blatantly copying things from Hunter X Hunter (same seiyuu, bla bla)

And it just made me thing about something rather funny that I saw once. Razz Enjoy.

What worries me more is the fact that there are people out there who learn the fight sequences well enough to identify when they are ripped off...

Not really surprising, considering that there's people who've worked on the CB movie that also worked on the Naruto TV series.

Well it’s no wonder that I liked the way that fight seen looked it was made by some great animators, I had no idea that they had people who worked on CB. But I have been less and less into Naruto. I am not sure why...

(Correct comparison here)

Yeah, I think it's more of an issue when the manga creator starts ripping things off than when some key animators get lazy and copy their own sequences.

What's the legal perspective on copying sequences?

I mean, some fight moves cannot be trademarked like the simple punch to the face. And a woman nagging her good-for-nothing husband can't be trademarked either. But what about whole fights where every move is lifted/copied, and it is not a parody?

And who actually "owns" the fight sequence? The key animators, the person/people who did the storyboarding, or the production company itself?

I'm just curious, that's all.
