Really? Why would anyone at Sony and Marvel put out an Anime, made by Madhouse with English language only?
Though I've seen a few episodes of each and standalone, it's not too bad, but leave the American superheroes to Marvel and let Madhouse produce anime. I think alot of us got into Anime to get away from the traditional american superhero genre and into something new. There's really no excuse for a non dual-language Anime release in 2012. |

I wish the DVDs were hybrid but considering how cheap they are ($14 on Amazon) I'll probably snap 'em up at some point. I kinda of dug X-Men, but dropped Iron Man after four during its initial Japanese broadcast run.

English language track only? What is this, are we going back to the 90's or something? No thanks. I'll only fork over for Japanese and English language tracks, thank you.

I'm not too surprised on edited dub only, actually. I wondered if they might do that since I guess the average comic reader wouldn't watch something subbed.

Why, pray-tell, would you make that kind of assumption? |

No Buy!
It's one thing to have these released DVD-only (which i wouldn't mind) but it's another to have them dub-only (which i don't support no matter how cheap they are). This isn't too surprising though since it's Sony Pictures, the same morons who did the same thing with Resident Evil: Degeneration (except that got a dub-only Blu-ray to go with it) plus let's not forget how they screwed up Blood + for DVD. |

Redlinks: I have a feeling they're trying to con the Marvel fans first, and then the anime fans. That is, make 'em pay for the edited dubs, and then charge 'em later with the special editions. That, or Der Mouse refuses to let any cartoon based on its properties have graphic content, even if they don't own the rights to the show. Also, the info could just be preliminary, and Amazon will update accordingly. After all, Sony didn't post the specs on its own site just yet.

Different fandoms. Just like most video games and non-Japanese foreign cartoons (like Totally Spies) fans don't care if it includes the original track or edits all that much. Plus I'm sure the average comic fan cares more about Steve Blum or whoever as Wolverine.
Well, technically Degeneration didn't have a sub track. It was originally all in English, just like the video games. So you're holding out on something that doesn't exist, heh. |

You're definately NOT a comic book fan, so how would you know this? What basis can you make those kinds of statements on? Why the heck would you even bother? Last edited by Shenl742 on Mon Feb 13, 2012 3:14 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Despite what they're called, I think these are being marketed in the US less as actual anime and more like traditional Marvel productions like the recent Wolverine & The X-Men and The Spectacular Spider-man. The MSRP is comparable with those releases.

I was somewhat interested in checking this out, after the pretty good review it received. But, an English-only release? No, thanks!
I know dub fans constitute the larger proportion of the anime buying community, but there are a a lot of people who prefer subs and/or abhor dubs. So, this is loss revenue for Marvel Comics, Sony Pictures Television, and Madhouse Studios. This will, probably, do fairly well with Marvel fans (about as well as physical media can do). But, it's still relatively unknown or unseen, especially in the Western Hemisphere. (Not the franchise, but the Japanese anime adaptation). I have the feeling a flop is on the horizons. |

Man, calm dawn, it was just an observation based on people I know. These series are being marketed less at anime fans and more at casual people. |
