Maiden Japan is a new and upcoming distributor of Japanese animation in North America, with a rapidly growing roster of releases that includes such hot new titles as GLASS MAIDEN, HIMAWARI!, RAY and PAPILLON ROSE.

Is it bad that I've never heard of any of those "Hot new titles"?

I haven't either, but let's welcome a new distributor into the Western Anime market.

Maiden Japan has been around since at least late-2010.

They're under the neo-ADV umbrella. Wouldn't surprise me if operations were handled by the same folks responsible for the Sentai Filmworks/Section23 stuff.

At any rate, Switchblade Pictures is an exploitation film label, and Maiden Japan is a "new distributor" under Switchblade that's handling anime. Legally, they're all separate entities that ultimately get retail distribution through Section23 Films.

Probably intentional. Properties of note would be licensed by Sentai, making Maiden Japan a brand for bottom tier stuff. Nevertheless, it's a little surprising that Polyphonica Crimson S has been licensed through this company (or maybe not, seeing how maligned the first series was?).

At any rate, I've sampled Himawari before because of Shigenori Kagayama's (noted animator during the 80s now associated with ARMS as a director and screenwriter) involvement. Didn't get through more than a few minutes.
