Looking forward to this! Hopefully it'll be closer to Mononoke's (extremely high) levels of quality than his later efforts.
BTW, why was Mononoke never licensed?

Everything he's done after Mononoke has been disappointing (even though I enjoyed Kuchu Buranko), so hopefully this is a step-up in direction.

I would guess that it might be tied into rights for Ayakashi, or specifically the Goblin Cat arc that Nakamura directed. They were released in Japan together twice (DVD set and Blu-ray set), so whoever might go for Mononoke might have to pick up the former. Geneon did release all of Ayakashi, but I have no idea how well it sold. It was released right before they shut down, so it might not have even mattered.
I really hope that it's released here someday. It and Mouryou no Hako are the only remaining anime series I'd buy in a heartbeat if they were released here.

Well that's good. C hardly set the world on fire but it's still certainly better than all this Guilty Rock Shooter Crown bullcrap noitamina is airing.

Maybe this time there'll be competent budgeting behind it.
[C] was a few too many strokes short of clearing the gap between solid and underwhelming

hmmmm...nice! I quite liked the beginning of C but ended up giving up on it because ANN.au had yet to fix up the streaming issues and it had become painful to watch.

You haven't seen the Black Rock Shooter adaptation yet; try to keep your mind open... or at least, your fingers crossed.

Not very well is my understanding. The result is that Mononoke has remained unlicensed.

I'd add Dennou Coil and Nodame Cantabile to that list myself.
