What do you mean by that?? Didn't 4Kids license it? If FUNI did, then at least there's hope that there'll be uncut DVDs with a Japanese track. With 4Kids, if they even release DVDs, it won't have the Japanese track. Does FUNI release DVDs of series that other companies license or something? Please tell me they do.... |

They do now. They just announced uncut, subtitled Shaman King and Yugioh DVDs. I love One Piece with all my soul. That FUNimation is doing uncut DVDs of 4Kids shows is the only thing keeping me from hitting the bottle right now. |

my feelings can best be described as this:
(image source: http://www.penny-arcade.com) Though I've heard rumours of these subbed DVDs, and they're the only reason I didn't use the comic where Tycho is attempting suicide with a butter knife. What is your source for this information? Last edited by RandomOtaku on Tue Jun 08, 2004 12:03 pm; edited 2 times in total |

in one case, I'm glad One Piece is coming out in English. In the same hand, I'm also glad FUNimation is doing English subtitled versions of 4kids anime, and once agian, wrapped nintendo doesnt play any part. However... still kinda burned... unsure.

NO! DEAR GOD NO!
Shite, I'm no expert on dubbing groups, but I know that 4Kids is about as good as shoving red hot pokers through your eyes. Expect: 1) Stupid Devil Fruit names 2) All of Zoros fight scenes and half of the Arlong arc (including the scene with Usopp winning a fight) cut 3) All Japanese puns replaced by crappy dub jokes 4) Tons of altered lines that suggest a certain pair of characters hooking up at some point ¬_¬ 5) Shit voices. 6) A complete absense of any execution scenes. 7) Hawk Eyes Mihawk to be completely cut. 8) Chopper to be made the main character. (much as I like Chopper...) SPOILERS spoiler[9) Hiluluk will not blow himself up or get himself poisoned. 10) Doctorine will not go psycho and chase after any body. 11) Alabasta Arc? Forget it. 12) All of the psychos, like Kuro or Don Krieg will somehow kill without drawing blood, despite their choice of weapons. 13) Speaking of Don Krieg, his gas ... out.] NO LONGER SPOILERS 14) No blood. Ever. [EDIT - use the spoiler tags. That's why we provide them. -C] [ANOTHER EDIT - I just noticed that button but I didn't know that there was one when I posted this] Last edited by Lupus on Tue Jun 08, 2004 12:11 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Funi said it at A-Kon: Funimation also then announced an uncut Shaman King release, which they got through 4Kids. Oct 19. There will be a dub and sub, though the dub will still have the Saturday morning names. Next up, Funimation then even announced an uncut Yu-gi-oh release. It?s still the first season that 4Kids came out, and it also comes out on Oct 19. Two volumes will be coming out for both Shaman King and Yu-gi-oh, and pricing may be estimated at around 3 episodes at $19.98. The release schedule is dependant on sales. http://www.animeondvd.com/press/conventions/akon2004.php |

I don't think I'll care either way about One Piece, but watching the reaction to this announcement on other anime boards with a lower median age than this one seems to have should be fun, like picking up a rock and watching worms scatter.
Probably all this indicates is that 4Kids is now interested in going after a show for a slightly older audience than their usual fare. I'm sure a sub is imminent. |

Mine was something like that too (minus the parent, I try to stay away from them), even worse, this means that I can't stay up until 4:00 AM on Friday nights... At least we get to watch it now... |
