Its mid 80's and all i remember is this:
There are three pilots, two man and one woman flying there own air/spacecrafts. Those crafts can combine into a small flying robot. But in heavy battles in space they can backup a giant flying robot with a sword (thougt with an X on his belly). When the giant robot arrives his belly and legs are goning open and the three crafts flying inside. One in his belly one in his right leg and one in his left leg. When they are inside they are teaking over command of the giant robot and fight. There is also an old lookalike profesor in a great mothership that can travels to time, some sort of space boat. The bad guy they are always fighting has a piece of hair over one eye. I'm now 23 years and I think it was 15 years ago I saw it the last time... Hope someone knows... There should be a forum for these questions. Either that or someone like Answerman to answer the questions. With that said, I have no idea what anime you're talking about.

Finally I know what the name of the serie is!! American version called: Macron one

Oh, so that's what you were looking for. When you said an "S" on his belly you threw me all off. Yeah, you can acutally buy VHS tapes of it for $1.99 at thrift stores and what not, I got two of them at Big Lots.

Yeah I know, it was a false memory! But after a short talk with a friend of mine, he said is was a X instead of S. So I changed it later, but after a big surch over the internet I found my awnser. and some *.avi files
