This is regarding World Destruction(TV). I was gonna report it as an error, but it's confusing me too much right now, so I'll let someone else sort it out.
In the series synopsis, the character is listed as "Kyrie." However, when you scroll down to the cast, you see the following: Mamoru Miyano as Kirie Irunisu Kylie Irunisu Now, I can't read Japanese, but I've seen all 3 episodes thus far (Episode 4 airs on Monday), and I'm fairly certain that this character does not have a twin (that would be Miyano-san's OTHER more recent role), so I'm fairly certain that both "Kirie" and "Kylie" are the same character, listed twice (which makes it 3 spellings of the same character). The character's name in Japanese is written キリエ, and, when pronounced, is much closer to an 'r' sound for the リ than an 'l' sound, so I greatly object to the "Kylie" spelling (which would make me think it's pronounced "Kai-lee" anyway). According to this official website, it appears that "Kirie" (a direct romanicization of the katakana) is the "official" spelling (as evidenced by the filename of the character images). So I guess I propose for the summary to be changed to reflect the spelling of the name as "Kirie" instead of "Kyrie", and removing the "Kylie" from the cast list. |

Yes, and that's why I entered his name as Kirie, until someone found this: A promotional video, meant to be watched by as many people as possible, has a higher "authority" than file names (even those on the official site(s)), for regular users wouldn't bother to look it up. By the way, "a direct romanicization of the katakana" is quite often NOT official, particularly when the name is supposed to be foreign or exotic. |
