The film will premiere in Paris on the 19th of august, two weeks before its release in Japan
http://www.20th-century-boys.fr/ Fortunately, I live in Paris and I'm pretty sure I'll get some exclusive tickets to see 20th Century Boys' world premiere with the cast of the movie on scene ! |

I know the manga came first, but the movie looks like it's trying to cash in on Death Note.

Stylistically, it seems really close to the live-action Death Note... Meaning that I think that it looks pretty ghetto; pass. I'll just read the manga when VIZ releases it after they wrap Monster up. |

Well, the Death Note movie wasn't really stylised anyway. Comparing this movie with Death Note is a little bit off............. The original manga is one of my all time favourite........ (just try to ignore the disappointing finale, 21st Century Boys)..... the plot and the conept of the story sounds reeeeeeeeally far fetched if you see it in words or if someone tell you about it. But it works really well if you read it as a manga. Urasawa is a master in building up suspense and atmosphere. He managed to turn an otherwise-stupid and far fetched plot into a believeable and thrilling atory that gives readers the chill. Thats master at work for you~ Death Note was good, but I wouldnt compare 20th Century Boys with DN. 20th Century Boys is just so unique that it stands on its own. |

I hope I see this movie before I read the manga, because if a read it first, I'll probably think the movie is crap, just as i did with Death Note. The trailer sure was suspenseful.
