I had a fealing something like this would happen. I didn't think it would happen 40 years from now, maybe like 100. (been watching too much Futurama)

I can only hope so. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to the real thing.

Also, this has nothing to do with anime.

I thought the whole point of having a sex dolls or sex robots was to have something to take your sexual frustration out on without the repercussions common with having to deal with your partner in the morning. Not someone with a personality that could even turn you down or complain about your poor performance in the sack.

To be turned down by a girl is a letdown. To be turned down by a robot is just plain sad.

Well ya, there are a lot of robot girls in anime. But that doesn't mean that anything about robot girls is anime related. It's like saying any topic about ninjas is anime related because there are a lot of ninjas in anime.

Well I certainly hope they don't do that. They're not going to sell much if they program them to turn you down if they don't like you.

Don't worry, you're not alone.

Although this doesn't really have much to do with anime, I must say that it's rather interesting in a disturbing sort of way.

This isn't really news - Cyberpunk Review (link NSFW) and various blogs were reporting on David Levy's ideas in January.

I'd be worried about electric gonorrhoea, the noisy killer.

4 decades? I'd be 60 something by then, it'd just be something to confound my old mind Laughing

About sodding time!
Here's me thinking I'll never find love- all I need to do is wait a few decades then put a bit of cash down. It'll be just like Chobits only without the off-putting music.
As much as we physics students tend to feud with engineers, this sort of news certainly makes them worth their salt.

Romantic human-robot relationships are no longer the stuff of science fiction--researchers expect them to become reality within four decades.

I see some contradiction here. Laughing

I think I'd be awfully hard to fall in love with a robot unless they have an extreme resemblance to a human... Or if they actually have a personality. Whenever I think about humans and robots in love, I wonder if the robot ever actually has any real feelings, or if they just act the way they were designed to. Confused

Fembots... Pfffft! Who needs 'em?

If you're having endless "girl trouble" then maybe you're simply not meeting enough girls? Once you get out a bit, you'll find them to be wretched, vile creatures who don’t even deserve your lust, let alone your love. I kid, I kid. They're actually highly amusing and I recommend chatting them up every chance you get. I mean, have you ever looked at the curves on these things? They’re wonderfully styled and represent the best artistic and aesthetic sensibilities. They are the perfect prescription for the mundane monotony of man. They may be a relatively close copy, but damn did someone make all of the right changes. Well, except for those recurring days when they suddenly morph into some sort of demonic creature from the deepest depths of hell. But, other than that, why tamper with perfection?

Not very PC Dax but quite funny. Laughing

Science Fiction writers have gotten more than a few things right in predicting future technology, though usually not the year when it would show up. (Still waiting for my cheap flying car people!) It's fun to know I might actually live long enough to see something like this. Not so much because I want a sex bot but having a robotic companion to keep me company would be nice.

I don't seem to get along very well with most people.
