Masakzu Katsura - a man, a manga, an obsession...
For example lets take the (oh, so loved by me [and I mean it!]) manga Video Girl AI:
- detailed girls
- nice, funny plot
- no violence and still interesting (hmm, maybe due to point.1 ?? gotta think about this...)
- AMUSING!
I like his works, (call me watchya want, but) I love VGA!
He really puts his heart to it, draws everything (..girls, more girls, and even more girls ^_^) in great detail.
So to get this going what do you think of his mangas/work in general?
Do you think he is being a male chauvinist pig?
Or is it that he just cares for his readers?
Personally, I am a great fan of the VGA series and find it very funny, though I've heard some nasty comments on this series. So... Post what YOU think!
(Uff...I should at last go to bed.. it's like 4:20 AM on my watch...) ^_^;

I love Katsura's works! Although the plot for DNA^2 is pretty goofy, I like it a lot. I also liked Shadow Lady, even though Saint Tail was starkingly similar (which one came first?).
Interestingly, Katsura has the uncanny ability to both draw panty shots, and beautiful boys at the same time. Really, I think this increases his fan base, as the guys like it for the girls, and the girls like it for the guys.
While the actual storylines to his manga may not be materpiece-definiting, they're all pretty original, which makes them interesting to follow.

While I tend to stay away from manga, for purely financial reasons mind you, I did enjoy the VGA OVA series. Liked the look and story line of the series, and just about anything featuring the voice of Megumi Hayashibara is going to get my attention.
Read in the little booklet that the creator had a nervous breakdown and forgot how to draw. Then reinvented his artistic style. Wow.

Ja, Katsura is pretty nifty. I like how his characters look less manga-ish and much more realistic. I like how their eyes are actually proporionate to their heads.
I'm saying this even though all I've read is, of course, Video Girl Ai.

Chauvenist? I wouldn't call him that. I think he has a very real idea of the ideal female form, which he doesn't mind depicting in the least. I'd hate to BE one of his females, tho - I'd constantly be having to duck into bathrooms to pick my wedge.
