Well, for Hellsing fans, this is great news. It does look like Funi managed to get around some of the red tape preventing them from releasing their Geneon titles they picked up, and now can give a decent timeframe of when the other OVAs will be released, as well as picking up this one.

Also, hopefully this is a sign that we may start seeing more announcements about release dates for their other Geneon titles, like Tenchi and Index/Railgun.

Tenchi most especially, yeah. Although wtih the big announcement that they're starting Hellsing back up again with the original dub cast, I'm definitely curious to see how it turns out.

As much as I would like this to be true, this article doesn't really say that.

Do you have information fro a different source?

I hope they release v. 1-5 all at the same time so that we who already have 1-4 can stop waiting and start watching.

According to the PR since news threads have more views:
Quote:
Production on the HELLSING ULTIMATE OVAs will begin immediately at the original studio, New Generation Pictures, and will include the original cast featuring Crispin Freeman in his return as Arucard.

And all is right with the world.

Well, since the article said that the original seven are going to be released (or, I'm guessing in the case of the first four, re-released) in 2012, that would lead me to believe they have the green light to release them. The other part of my statement is only a hopeful idea based on this news, since I know in my case Tenchi is caught up in the whole Geneon thing and I'm waiting for it to be re-released.

Oh HELL yes. I'm glad this finally got out of licencing hell, and now we will soon no longer have to hunt down those expensive Geneon discs.

It's good to see them using New Generation for the dub. A Funi dub would for it would have likely knocked it off my "To Buy" list, especially if they attempted accents on it.

Now hopefully they will actually get released in a more timely manner, and not delayed repeatedly like so many Funimation titles.

Well, It would be nice if you are right about this. I think you are taking a positive spin on this (this is not a knock against you or anything.. ) but I have been looking at the first four volumes sitting on my shelves for so long now that I have developed a rather skeptical attitude about Hellsing Ultimate announcements. Sad At this point, I only have this brief ecstatic rush, followed by my usual let-down when I don't see a posted release date. Embarassed

For what it's worth, I applaud your positive attitude. Smile

This was in the same Geneon licensing hell as Shana, right? Does that mean we might finally get to see season two? (Especially since Funi just started airing season three...)
