Even though the news that the growth of manga is at its lowest rate may be considered to be somewhat bad, if you take into account that the U.S. economy is in a recession and therefore the dollar is getting weak, and people are forced to spend less money on luxuries, the news that it's growing at all is relatively good.

I was thinking the same. However there are alot more people reading manga online now than before so that needs to be taken into account aswell.

I would buy more manga if they would stop butchering the translation! D< Also if someone were to bring over some ACTUAL yuri that I could buy at my local bookstore.

I think I bought like 2 new volumes of manga in 07. I bought alot this year so far (maybe 6 volumes?) but I've been greatly disapointed in what I bought. Not because of the translation but I found I was no longer interested in the story. xP

I barely bought any so far this year as nothing worth reading came out. The book store that carries a lot of manga in my town either has complete generic crap or complete generic man porn crap.
Maybe if they got good stuff instead of complete crap it would grow faster. Though the economy right now isn't helping.

Well considering the overall US economy you can expect some slowing but I think any growth at this stage is good. I mean certainly better than the anime counterparts which has had negative growth for the last couple years.

It's me.That's right.I've started buying manga instead of reading scans. Shocked I'm currently enjoying Nightmare Inspector 01 and Vampire Knight 01-04.I live near a Borders now,so I can indulge in some manga.I'll tell ya,manga has blown up since the 90's.I remember when the manga section was limited to a few titles,on one shelf. Now there are all sorts of titles on about four double sided shelves.I've also read in the past about kids sitting in the isles reading manga. So I tested it out by sitting in one of the chairs and sure enough I got yelled at.I just laughed.

I used to collect manga way back in the early 90's and decided to start again.Ya can't really display old singles like you can with these novels.

One factor as to why it slowed would probably be because of scans. But considering what Braves said, it still is a good thing. Hopefully for this year we can continue the rise.

If that were the case then we would see no growth at all.

They are already aware of the problem and taking measures against it. Besides, people read manga online, so people are still into the" fad". Manga is just not able to move as quickly as before and considering times are hard and Manga is a hobby not a need that's understandable. Your comment really does not reflect reality at all. Laughing
