All I have to say is why the heck wasn't it like this from the start.
Being a Negima fan is suffering are we allowed some form of anime that doesn't suffer production issues?

When I was reading up on the first series release, all I heard were complaints about the fanservice of middle school girls. This didn't stop me from enjoying the other elements of the series, though its story seemed choppy, especially near the end.
When the "retelling" came out, people raved and cheered it was "better" and this was what the series should have done. Though, I would vehemently disagree as this series was horrid (though the art style was much better). Asuna was a complete moron who obsessed over a mythical creature. The delivery was a very poor rip-off of Pani Poni Dash and it just ruined it.
Now I read there's been added minutes to the movie.
It's disgusting to read Akamatsu has zero confidence in the very works he created and seems to be catering to feedback rather than story.
He can keep his movie. I don't want it.

Really? The first series had two brief pantyshots and they were added on the DVD version only.

That's pretty much why I've still never seen more than a few episodes and only have one of the DVDs from that series. The chupacabra stuff was inane and pointless and also infected the OVAs.

As far as Negima goes for me I prefer the manga and the remake was just a bore. The first Negima series was enjoyable and the remake just took out most of the elements I liked about the series.

The OADs are all fine.

This is normal behaviour for SHAFT.
Why the hate for someone that is barely involved with the production? Akamatsu already voiced that he didn't like the film as it cut too much out, to the point of not making any sense. This extended version is his version, not the one that was screened.

I don't hate Akamatsu. Quite the contrary. I just hate his lack of confidence in his works to the point...

...it reaches this stage.
Akamatsu did not have to waive his creative rights to sell his works for an animation production requiring additions/changes he dislikes.
There was nothing wrong with works to begin with.
Perhaps "confidence" isn't the proper word to use here, though I've no idea what to replace it with. Sorry.

He has plenty of confidence in his works, the problem is that every single animated adaptation for all of his works get shafted in one way or another.
He said the movie was bad because, well, SHAFT honestly screwed up. I heard they removed 20 minutes for the movie screening because they were too busy editing Madoka for the BD releases and ran out of time to work on the movie. Anyone would complain about that.
I just wish that this manga would have gotten an anime that didn't butcher everything, but the title of this movie says that will never happen.

I'm guessing he didn't like that his work was being limited by time because it was a double-feature with Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth.
This release is more like a director's cut, as it adds scenes. As for adjusting dialogue to make the characters sound more intelligent, I'm guessing that it was below what he originally portrayed their intelligence at in his manga and he simply wanted to try to fix that.

I am so happy that they finally extended the movie by 40 min. It is great because to me it was very short but now it is 89 min longs.

Isn't a home video release slated as well at some point like the Hayate movie?
Also, it's not like we won't see it here. Funimation licensed the Tsubasa OADs a while back. Negima is a pretty popular series. I doubt the OADs and movie wouldn't be licensed.

Shaft started production on the movie only a couple of months before release. Also they're understaffed and were working on other projects at the same time.

When somebody asked them about the Negima OADs in Anime Boston this year, their reply was that they are aware of them, and that it is in their "may license" list. That to me sounds like they may get it, but they're in no hurry to because they know nobody else is gonna license it.
Also, the Negima series has been a part of their S.A.V.E. line, which is only used for series that didn't sell well. It's very possible it won't be licensed, or at least not anytime soon.

I mean, have Kodasha Comics release the DVD alongside the manga.

That isn't their business.

I haven't heard that, as I thought both Negima versions did well in their initial runs... Well enough to HAVE a second runs which is what both veridian and s.a.v.e. are. Do you have actual numbers on that?
Shrug. Dunno that there are the numbers to do the OAV's though, which is disappointing if it never happens. Perhaps the Hayate double feature would still be released with the Directors' cut tho.
I have liked them all, realizing that they are different interpretations... and I know it irks Ken A. that they strayed so far from source ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
