Looks like they cut a production deal with Universal
which gives the movie company the adaptation rights to the comic company's properties, including "any material that Dark Horse might acquire on its own and want to develop as a motion picture". Hmm...Does this mean that upcoming live-action GITS is going to be a reality soon?

Wow, there's a lot of cool potential there.

There is a whole bunch of places that they can start from, but hopefully they can get some stuff right and not be cheap asses about the movies. GITS eh? What about Berserk?

Dominion Tank Police would be my bet. GITS has several anime, so does Appleseed, Dominion needs time.

Remember that Dark Horse only licensed these series, they don't own the copyright. Any movies based on licensed products will have to go back to the original owner: Dark Horse cannot do it on their own (unless of course it was stated that they could in the licensing agreement, something I would be rather shocked to find out because that would just be stupid on the part of the Japanese creator).

I agree with marie-antoinette - it's far more likely they're thinking of developing their US and UK properties into movies than the stuff they license from Japan.
