I kid you not!!!

http://www.cinemanow.com/movieDet.aspx?movieid=3503

p.s. I am not working for them or anything. And only discover that such a thing existed after some debate and then research on the 'pay per play Napster-like anime download for $1 per episode' thread.

It's a rental however, in which the 'movie viewing period' is 24 hours. After that, the file (I am guessing) will self-delete.
It is only available to people who have broadband (i.e. cable, DSL...).

This could be the beginning of a new way of anime distribution. If they are doing it for movies, I am sure they can do it for anime.

Assume that if you haven't seen it (I am sure everyone in here had), would you buy it?
Do you think this is a good tool for anime distribution? Would this solve the fansub issue?

If you like them to have an 'anime' option, the best way is letting them know by voicing your support for anime.

I did. And this was the reply:

Dear (my name),

Thanks for writing in. We are actively looking to distribute anime on
our site, but have not yet finalized any deals in particular. Please keep
checking back as we're always adding new titles to our library online.

Kindest,

Eric

so what do you think?
For example, Naruto 01 came out in Japan on TV, but it was licensed by Cinemanow, so there will be no fansub. It was put on 'rent' for like $1.00 per episode with about $0.70 going straight to the anime studio.
Do you think it could make the anime studio more money than going through the DVD route where it receive only 5-8% in royalties? The anime will be subtitled however (or dub, but that would raise the cost and will delay release for a few months).

They also have a 'download-to-own' section, anime could be purchased that way also.

p.s. Cinemanow has a bunch of safeguard that prevent illegal usage, piracy. Basically, it ensures that if the file get on Kazaa, and you got it, you play it, it won't work. One of its partners is Microsoft, so the technology is there.

Making a new thread where you basically re-iterated the whole point of your last thread (while only adding a marginal tidbit of new information) was unnecessary.

Nagisa vs. FirstExile

Anime smile
Let the battle begin!

PS: Streaming pay-per-view anime is not a good idea if u ask me(only my view of point). I think its much better to rent the DVD in Blockbuster for around $3-4.
